View Full Version : Isn't KNOWING that you are going to heaven WONDERFUL??

I am so glad that God saved my soul from hell. I am so glad that I know for SURE that I will see my Lord, my Master, My KING in heaven someday. His Word says that we should KNOW that we have everylasting life.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
My heart breaks for those who are lost in a religion that does not give them any security in thier salvation. The guilt.......the wonder......the not knowing.......Oh my heart just goes out to those who COULD know, but thier church is stopping them from knowing by works.
I am just greatful that God gave us His word, and that God never changes, but the world and the churches do. We all know that! Praise the Lord for HIS perfect WILL.
Lets PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My question is how do you feel knowing that so many others aren't going there with us because we don't care enough to persuade them with the truth and treat them with respect, and above all else to show God's love through our ongoing caring, and His forgiveness through real enduring patience with them.
Honestly I can't rejoice in my salvation, if it doesn't also mean the salvation of others, and the alleviation of others' hardships. They are all valued and loved by God just as much as I am, and it would be nasty beyond words for me to sit there being glad I am saved, while others around me are drowning, to rejoice that God saved me, while not caring about anyone else, to help Him save them. No offense meant; but that is how I feel personally.

I see where you are coming from, but still yet I am going to rejoice over the fact that when my eyes close on this world, Jesus will be the next thing I see again, which there is absolutely nothing on this planet that can top that. Rejoicing in our salvation is a way of showing people the truth of Christ. I mean if we aren't happy about being saved, why would someone want something that doesn't make them happy? See what I mean? Be happy in your salvation and people will wonder why you are so happy and bam....witnessing opportunity. (Did I say happy enough? hehe;) )

My advice is that we always keep Heaven AND Hell within our sights. We need to rejoice and thank God for our salvation, but we must also realize that the eternal destination of most of the people we meet everyday is Hell. We must make an effort to bring them to Christ, relationship evangelism almost never works, you must make an effort to steer the conversation toward spiritual things.

I'm amazed that some people will argue with a statement like, "Isn't KNOWING that you are going to heaven WONDERFUL??"
I guess some people have to focus on the half of the glass that's empty and can't enjoy for a moment the half of the glass that's full. :(

Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Isaiah 12:3-6 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.
AMEN! I am going to SHOUT, I am going to scream! I am going to sing unto the Lord. We CAN do that. We CAN rejoice, we CAN sing aloud and PRAISE our Lord God. We CAN be in love with HIM. Show all of those how wonderful salvation is. Being saved is not a pitty party, its a rejoicing party! This country NEEDS REVIVAL!!!!
Oh wouldn't that be somthing. For our country to have revival? Wouldn't it be awesome to have a huge tent in your town with preachers lined up to preach for 3 days strait and seeing souls saved, lives changed, souls revived, and JOY among the bretheren??????

Hey, it's the active-positive people of this world who get things done, not the passive-negative people. By focussing only on the sad truth that some are perishing, and refusing to rejoice in our salvation, not only are we not following the instructions of God, but we are presenting a dour, unhappy, negative face for Christianity. We don't want them to think Christianity is about mourning, we want them to see it is about rejoicing in our salvation and our God!

I finally got the courage up to call my Baptist Church up after a long absence and sporadic attendance because I have become lost in legalistic religion and lost my assurance of salvation. I am rejoicing today because I was lost and have found my way back to the Lord and am putting my eyes on Him not religion and not letting anything take away my assurance. I am rededicating my life to Him today and am rejoicing with you. Your posts are a blessing to people like me who at one time or another lose their assurance. God bless!

Hello my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! I hope everyone is doing absolutely wonderful. I have question about OSAS. What verses do you have to back that up? What does mean one someones says "They were not truly saved in the first place?" God Bless:thumbsup:
Here's a few, but not all of them by any means.
John 10:29-30, “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”
Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Hebrews 5:9, “And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”
1st Peter 1:3-5, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Ephesians 4:30, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
Hebrews 8: 26-28, “He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.”
Hebrews 6:4-6, “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.”
Hebrews 13:5-6, “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you,” So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’”
As for a person being truly saved, honestly that depends on their heart and relationship with Christ. All we have to go on is their fruit whether it is good or bad and the Bible says we will know them by their fruit. So if a person who claims to be a Christian is producing bad fruit or no fruit, then I would question their salvation, but in the end it's not for me to decide and only them and the Lord know. If you need any other info I would be happy to send you a paper I wrote. It better explains OSAS, but is too big to post here.

In my daily reading I was in daniel Chapter 10.
Daniel writes about how he was so speechless and without strength. All God had to do was touch him, and instantly daniel had strength. Does anyone believe that God touches them? Seriously.........I think God touches us all the time and we just don't pay attention. When was the last time God touched you and you said THANKS??????

I agree here!!! :) I was just presenting another side, not arguing with the OP (though it seems I did come across that way--sorry!). My friends all know me as a generally happy person. It is just that I have seen too many positive-passive people, and that isn't much better than negative-passive. Our faith must be an active one. I am active in ministry, it is just that so many aren't who could be; we are told to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest. We definitely don't want to have a gloomy Christianity, faith is not gloomy at all!!!--but at the same time what turns people off the most is seeing happy-go-lucky Christians who don't care enough about others. Cheerful and continually caring is the balance. :)
I will start another thread here on OSAS.

Curiously, I've never "known" anything of the sort. I have hope, not knowledge; faith, not certainty. I see through a glass, darkly. But faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I do not know what will happen, but I will trust God. I do not need to speculate about my future to be joyful; my cup runneth over, today. Here and now, this creation is indeed Good. I cannot describe what a Heaven would be like that would make it "better" than this; I will leave the future to God, and celebrate creation as I encounter it.

Maybe we're just too different to communicate. I don't think you're hearing what I'm saying, and I am not entirely sure what you're saying.
The Bible teaches that we have faith, hope, and love. Faith and hope are not certainty; they are belief without certainty.
I know many people who claim certainty. I know enough of them that they don't all agree on the things they say they are certain about. So, I can say pretty confidently that some people who are totally certain are also wrong. Given that, even when I feel certain, I don't claim certainty; after all, some people who feel at least as strongly as I do disagree with me, so at least some people who feel the same strength of conviction that I do are wrong.
It's all good.
It's really a matter of changing over from hope to belief. Even the weakest, lamest faith is better than the most joyful indifference.
I am pretty sure you are misunderstanding me. Obviously, I have belief, or I wouldn't be in the Congregation forums. I am obviously not indifferent, or I wouldn't spend as much time as I do contesting for the fiath. But... That's not "knowing".
I know that cats are quadrupeds. I know that fish swim. I believe in salvation. It's not the same kind of thing.

Faith is putting your trust in what God says. Belief in God is being convinced that HE is who he says he is and HE does what HE says he does. With that kinda faith/belief, one can have confidence in knowing because they trust God's word that they are going to heaven.
THAT is a wonderful thing. I understand what you are saying, do you understand me now? Or do I need to clarify?
If not..........then jump up and PRAISE THE LORD!

I know that cats are quadrupeds. I know that fish swim. I believe in salvation. It's not the same kind of thing.
That is a great analogy and makes sense to me. What is faith?
Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. See Synonyms at belief. See Synonyms at trust.
Loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one's supporters.
often Faith Christianity. The theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God's will.
The body of dogma of a religion: the Muslim faith.
A set of principles or beliefs
Faith is a person's confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing (i.e. God).
Do we have 100% evidence that there is a God? No. This is where faith comes in. I have it ... the agnostic, atheist and other non-believers do not.
Seebs, I thinks this is what you are getting at. Correct?

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I thank God for the Holy Bible, because God does want me/us to KNOW without a doubt, that I/we are going to spend eternity with Him.
Our church has a soul winning day every week. We don't have as many people going out as there should be, but we are trying. I have not actually verbally given anyone the Gospel, but I'm going to change that. I have written to email buddies and one young man got saved. His life is changing. His attitude is changing. A couple of other people assured me that they were going to Heaven too. I will just have to wait and see.
Get some tracts and hand them out everytime you get a burger, go to the store, get gas. Maybe you won't be able to give the gospel, but you will be planting seeds.
My Pastor told us of a young lady who found one of our tracts in the drawer of her deceased father. She felt compelled to keep it and put it in her drawer at home. Two years later, she found it in her drawer, came to church and got saved!!! Never underestimate the power of a little tract with the Gospel on it !!!!!!!!!
PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD! LET THE EARTH HEAR HIS VOICE !!! PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD!!! LET THE PEOPLE REJOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE JESUS, YES I DO!!!! I LOVE JESUS, HOW ABOUT YOU???????????????

:amen: What's even more wonderful is when we fall down in our walk with God or stray from his Word, that He is waiting with open arms like the father in the Prodigal Son parable, so we can find our way back to Him if we just tell Him.
Hebrews 4:14-16:
"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
"Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see. :amen:
God bless,

How can you NOT be joyously ecstatic when you know that Jesus loves you and you're going to Heaven? My life has changed so much since I got saved. My husband got saved at the same time and He's changed too!!! He used to be almost silent. I would ask him questions about his day or what he wanted for dinner. He would answer with one or two word answers and be kind of sullen when he did.
But now, PRAISE GOD'S HOLY NAME!!!! , my husband and I actually have conversations about this and that!!!!!!!!! This has only happened since we were saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!! He will come home from work and tell about something funny that happened. He will ask my opinion on things. WOW!!!!!!!!! It's all God's doing!!!!!!!
I've read that some other religions actually teach that you can lose your salvation or that you have to work for it. Where is the assurance in that? I'm glad God steered me to a good ,old fashioned ,fundamental, King James Bible believing, sin hating, devil fighting, sinner loving, soul winning church!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, please pray for my Pastor. He's in the hospital with chest pains. They have been going on for a week and a half. He got tired of it and finally went to the hospital. I know he's going to Heaven someday, but like Paul said, it is needful for him to remain.
We still need him here.
Thank you Lord God for everything you have allowed me to go through and helped me to endure. Thank you for bringing us to this place, this time. Thank you!!!!!!!

Phi 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
I have NOT finished my course, I have NOT fought a good fight...I hear you there! And yet still we keep after it, longing to hear those words, "well done my good and faithful servant". Onward Christian Soldier.

 I am praising and rejoicing with you sister! I live in a very liberal area of the country where it's very hard to find a "good, old fashioned, fundmental, King James Bible believing, sin hating, devil fighting, sinner loving, soul winning church! I fellowship with a small independent Baptist church that has very few members left and not much life in it but they are the only church I know in my area that follows the bible and doesn't compromise God's Word. While I am looking for a Pentecostal fellowship, I am thankful for this Church that still believes and obeys God's Word. I am praying about this matter and ask for your prayers that I hear from God whether he wants me to continue to go here or find a Pentecostal church. I am only seeking change because my church has very little life left in it and not many people my age (40). My husband doesn't goe to church or read the bible and I am praying about that also!
Also, please pray for my Pastor. He's in the hospital with chest pains. They have been going on for a week and a half. He got tired of it and finally went to the hospital. I know he's going to Heaven someday, but like Paul said, it is needful for him to remain.

:prayer: I will pray for your Pastor's healing. I hate to see a man of god attacked by illness.
Gracious Heavenly Father, we pray in Jesus' name that The Smiling One's Pastor receive your healing mercies right now and that he is made whole in Jesus name. Lord deliver this man from his chest pains, We pray that You will give the doctors wisdom in finding what's causing them and that he would feel better quickly and be healed of them so he can continue serving You. Please touch him now and heal him in Jesus' name. Amen.
Thank you Lord God for everything you have allowed me to go through and helped me to endure. Thank you for bringing us to this place, this time. Thank you!!!!!!!
:amen: I am in agreement with your prayer; Thank you Gracious Heavenly Father for how you never leave us or forsake us and your mercies and compassions are new every morning.
Please bless this sister and her husband in Jesus Name.
God bless you and your husband!

CLskinner,
YOU CAN KNOW you are going to heaven. The bible is clear! YOU CAN KNOW, not out of pride, but out of accepting the Lord as your SAVIOUR! Please know that if you are born again, YOU WILL hear "well done my good and faithful servent."
The Smiling One,
GIRL! I KNOW what you mean! My husband is smart! I found this out! I cannot believe it! And now that he is born again, Oh Lord, THANK YOU Lord, for saving my husband and for a good bible believing church!
Salvation is GREAT for a marriage!

Hi GEL
I don't want to argue with you about being born again, or being saved, as we have different conceptions of both. But I do thank you for these thoughts from your heart, and for your genuine sincerity.

Thank you so much for all your prayers!!! Pastor is fine.
Our hospital sent him to a second, larger hospital because of some sort of anomaly in his bloodwork. He got to the second one and everything was fine.
God did that!!!!!!!
