I am not surprised about where Spurgeon learned his doctrines. I have found his writings to be off on many more points than even just what relates to Calvinist doctrines. It seems from what I heard, though, that he was a sincere man, and apparently effective in prayer for the sick, in spite of what he taught.

I just love the way Spurgeon has been used by virtually every denomination in order to back up their own arguements... Seriously today, not offence meant to anyone, if Spurgeon were still alive, he would have to start up Spurgeonism, cause i dont think any curretn denomination holds 100% to what he writes...
Saying that, I too dont hold 100%, but i still love a lot of what he's written... And thanks for giing me more titles that he himself read!!!

Peace to u,
BillThe list you linked to is only a list of puritan books he held in his personal library, not an all-encompassing list of all the books he ever owned, let alone ever read. I just thought it was important to set that straight, that Spurgeon was a big reader of various books, not just puritan books.
In fact, when you look at the collection more closely, you see that it is a list of the puritan books in the William Jewel College which are in a collection of books called the Spurgeon Collection. They aren't even books Spurgeon owned or read, they are merely the puritan books IN the collection. It's a library's catalogue, nothing more, nothing less.
