View Full Version : Commentaries on P/R/E

I would like to make a thread, where everyone of every Christian faith can talk about the happenings in any P/R/E thread. Mainly because I see a lot of Catholic floaters and I think it would be interesting to hear thier two cents as well as that of others.

This is not for debating, just for the publishing of thoughts.

I hope this idea of a free thought thread is within the rules, I would really like to give us all the oppertunity to get thoughts from around Christendom.

Remember, thoughts on what is going down somewher in P/R/E and no debate, just what you think, good bad and ugly.

It has been asked if This is to be like the Commentary on Formal Debates back in IDD. I am not too familiar with them, but I am inclined to say yes.

I was originally envisioning something like, "They made a good point here "Quote" but they could have worded it a bit better by including this Quote" or, "I don't agree with this "Quote"" or even, just banter about a happening in here, "Did you see that "Quote"" "I don't think he should have said that" etc.

Mostly because since the close of IDD, it is hard to get the oppinions of other Faiths without people saying, get back in your hole!

Hopefully this is a friendly edifying thread, upon the debate threads in the P/R/E.

Just check out the Freezer to get their thoughts. They often talk about us there.

My guess is all we will receive from others will be bad and ugly. Things have calmed down significantly. Why open up another can of worms when we finally closed the biggest (IDD)?

Sure I'll give it a try!

The thread on the placement of the pulpit and the altar in P/R/E churches. I find it very interesting how different demoniation have diferent view on the subject. As a Catholic, I find the whole topic of Liturgy fascinating.

I find the fact that there is dissention on the topic of Communion interesting, especailly because the Subject of the Topic Itself is what holds Christians together.

I just want to thankyou for giving it a try, I really enjoy your comments.

Oblio, that is a very interesting point indeed.

JVAC, unfortunately, as much as I'd love to see it happen, it probably won't work.

It never does. People let pride get in their way and before you know it the "get to know ya" session turns into a "debate" and "bickering" session.

And for the record Greeter, I have expressed my dissatisfaction with the Walk-In Freezer and have started a discussion with the rest of the staff to get rid of it because I do not think that these "rant threads" do anything but cause strife and disharmony...

IMHO, why it was ever created is beyond me. We're in a public forum and it's foolish to not think that Protestants are not going to click on the link and read what people write...so to me, it encourages strife.

And the same goes for the Rant Thread over here...

Just my $0.02...

Hey now...:P...as a Christian brother, I'm just trying to rid this forum of opportunities for people to commit venial sins...;)

It is...*dramatic pause*...my duty as a professed Christian. :)

But our Rant Thread is all fun and games ;)

Anyways, some of us are hotheads and have to rant somewhere, better in a dedicated thread than somewhere else, if you ask me.

Plus, that's my thread!!!

I like the Soup Kitchen because it has an endless supply of Cream of Mushroom soup. :)

Ohhh....and there've been a few threads in here where I've been able to share the knowledge I acquired from my time on my church's worship committee and my training as a lay speaker. Which I think is cool...because then I feel smart.

I was on council, and I chaired youth committee. I could be a professional fund raiser.
I didn't have training as a lay speaker, but I got to give a sermon during Lent. (on a Wed) It was well received.
It's fun to feel like we have some intelligence and something to give back.

I thought it was that guy from that one movie where he's in the electric chair and he keeps telling them he'll be back and whatnot...it's like a horror movie I think...

Sheesh, now I feel like "Clerks"...

"Hey, do you have that one movie, ya know, with that one guy in it, when he does that one thing?"
