Daily, mostly Psalms and Lamentations. They help place me in the right frame of mind for my listening time (to God, of course). They don't help at all when it comes to my wife.

i read mine daily...i could not live without it. Being totally consumed in God's word and allowing Him to teach you will bring you to unimaginable places you've never been. Also...i LOVE Psalms too *S*..lol its like a big poem to God and i can totally relate.

I read it daily.

I have a clapper, and it seems to go on a lot, when nobody claps. I use to read the Bible every time it went on, but I stopped after a while.

I do not read the bible daily. Is quite sad of me. :(

Now, I found the online bible site where I can read whenever. I should make it a habit to read it everyday.

I read my Bible daily, but do miss an occasional day. I read from both KJV, and NIV. I have read the entire NIV, and am working my way through the KJV and just can't get enough of either version.

oops, I think I lied, :( I think I said I read my bible every day.... hmmm

well I do try, but... lets be honest now, I probably read it once a week on a bad week, 3 or 4 times a day on a good week, so, theoretically I didnt lie, I just voted on a good week! ;) :D :P

I usually read it once or twice a day. Sometimes, my routine gets out of whack, and I don't do it. Often my day will be really crummy, and then I realize that I haven't spent my quiet time with the Lord. I really need it to get through the day!

A pastor suggested getting a One Year Bible...
have been reading it for over a year now, this is probably the best way to get people all the way through the OT...

everyday is a few chapters from the OT, the NT, a Psalm, and a few lines from Proverbs...

I used to be more consistent in my devotional time. Am trying to get back to our daily family bible reading. Sometimes it's difficult to herd my family into one room. I feel early morning is the best time for bible reading, prayer and meditation.

But I do have a program on my computer called Mannakorn that pops up a scripture passage every 15 minutes so that is cool for when I spend too much time on here! God bless!

If I do not read my Bible, I 90% of the time try to pray. Taking time to reflect on my day, thank God for everything in my life and much more. There are times when I do forget, and boy can I tell in my life when I do not take time to talk with God.

Every morning with the aid of a daily devotional. I read a few theology books and "christian living" type books which make regular references to scripture. Im trying to fill my mind up with it so theres no room for other non benificial stuff.

The Bible, the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, is the only offensive weapon in the Christian's arsenal. How does he or she engage the enemy in daily spiritual warfare without using it and hope to be successful?

Plus with my daily reading and study, I keep a Bible with me where ever I go so I can just pick it up and start reading (e.g. doctor's office, waiting on my wife at the mall, rush hour traffic, etc...)

I get Scripture emailed to me every day. Other than that, I read to my kids from my study Bible as part of their daily lessons, and I read them devotionals from a book for kids every evening. Unfortunately I usually get behind on my reading when I go through bad weeks (I have dysthymia), which is really the time I need it most! I'm trying, though.

I also always have a Bible wherever I am (I have several translations on my PDA in my purse), so I look things up whenever I have questions.

Is 'quiet time' a part of your life?

Do you only open The Bible during a message at church?

Do you read it at all?Yes, quiet time is a part of my life.

When I was going to church I opened it during the message.

Yes, I read it a lot. I took last year off from reading it daily within the confines of one of those "Read the Bible in a Year' schedules. But yes, I still find the Bible invaluable. Although admittedly I find my on-line search engine better for on-line discussions than my old K.J.V. hard copy. ;)

I try to read it daily at least once. My wife and children also read daily as much as possible. The first two years I probably averaged 8 to 10 hours a day. Now I try to read one to two chapters every day besides studying different topics. This might sound wierd but we keep Bibles everywhere (cars, motorcycles, at our retail store, and most important, in all restrooms (no better place to be alone). I also have PC Study on all my computers. We all need our daily bread and Jesus is that bread.

I try to do it every day, but I'm bad sometimes :( My fiance is having a really hard time making time for devotionals since he's spending 5 months at police boot camp right now. But I'm trying to push him towards it & encourage him more; if we have time to talk on the phone every night, we can make time to read God's word.

Every once in a while, though I need to start reading it more, because it's difficult for me to get back to a schedule of reading the bible or even making time to read it. I'm guilty on that matter and I need to make time, even if its ten or so minutes a day.

Well I used to just pick it up every once in a while and find some interesting things in it, but yesterday I started it from the beginning, and it's going to take me a while to read it. I've read about 20 pages since yesterday, and I love it so far. I'll read a little bit a day. I used to just use it as a little guide book, to pick up whenever I was confused about something to do with Christianity, but now I'm reading it as I would a novel, all the way through. So I guess it is kinda like my daily life now.

Cright
21st April 2004, 12:34 AM
I read a devotional book daily that has a short story and scripture w/ it each morning.
I read my (TEV) bible at work 3-5 times a week (what a luxury that is!!).
I have a "verse-a-day" in my email that I read too, it often contains bible trivia questions w/ the supporting verse.
I go to a Sunday bible study after church (bible churhc), one on Thursday evening (Methodist church) and a Thursday night (hosted by a member of a Baptist church). Intresting since I was catholic until about 6 months ago and before that hardly dusted off my bible to read it, and never was a member of a Catholic church where it was encouraged or adult studies offered.
I don't really consider it "reading", but several days of the week I'll pick up on of my bibles (3 different translations) to refrence others comments, learn from the bible studies or to find an answer to a question I'm working on.

Right now I just can't get enough knowledge!! I'm sucking it up like a sponge! lol

kermit the toad
21st April 2004, 01:35 AM
I read it every day, with rare exception. I usually read 4 chapters before I go to bed each night. If I don't read it one night because I am just too tired to make the reading worth while (i.e.: I'm reading it, but it's not sinking in) then I'll try to make up for it by reading more than usual the next day.

I feel having a quiet time is very important. I generally have mine first thing in the morning before i do anything else - it's so quiet and peaceful at that time of the day. Bible reading is central to this time with the Lord - without it, how can we know more of Him and how to live to please Him ?? ;)

I read in throughout the day. Everyday. It is food for the soul. No matter how many times I read something over and over again, i can learn something new and find something new to apply to my life. And learn to serve and glorify God all the more.

I think the more you read it the more you want to. For those who dont everyday, try to at least read for 10 minutes. 10 minutes isnt hard to set aside for the Word. And if you have a tendency to forget to read, put a note on the fridge. While you eat a snack you can read the Word of God too and feed both body and soul at the same time. :-)

I read it daily but I ocassionally miss reading it. Right now, I am trying to read through the entire Bible starting at Genesis by reading a few chapters a day and then reading some of the New Testament. But I am not including my readings in the New Testament as my goal to read the entire Bible. I just feel that I need to read part of the New Testament each day in addition to my chronological reading of the whole Bible.

I read my bible (like as in page for page or chapter for chapter) a couple of times a week. I mostly read christian books that give me scriptures to look up. I am scripture frenzy and I am in the word everyday. I love to teach or preach the Good news to others :preach: and so I ask God for wisdom. God has given me the passion to love others and one day I want to be a youth pastor. ;) *love4jesus goes and makes a habit to read her bible everyday* :liturgy:

Being a Christian means having a relationship with Almighty God, right? But how can we have a relationship with someone when there in no communication? To grow spiritually, we need to pray and, as someone once said, get into the Word of God and get the Word of God into us.

That said, I, myself, do not read the Bible often enough. It seems to go in cycles where I read every day, I've read from cover to cover (excluding the maps and concordance :D ) several times, but then I have times when I don't read it for long periods. These times, my life shows it.:sigh:

First off, I don't read the bible. I am an atheist and I, at a point in the last year, found christianity to be very questionable. I tried really hard to believe that there was a god, that there was a heaven, and that I might be 'saved'. But logic overcame belief and I became what I am now. So I just want to pose a few questions for everyone to think about: What is our meaning? Why would a god create us, let us die, and then judge us on our life?
P.S. I'm not trying to harass chrisitanity, just find answers.

Every day...

I didn't really used to read the bible, unless I was at a bible study or small group.... I was rather arrogant, I thought that I knew all there was to know about and in the bible. It took one person who knew a heck of a lot more than me to tell me I needed to read it more often and in greater depth. So that's what I've been doing.

Most days. Do try to go through at least once or twice a year (cover to cover), besides additional study and reading. When I went through earlier this year I timed how long it took to read each book - not in a speedy way but thinking over the Scripture as I read. This helps for other times of reading when you have an amount of time, you can think - I can read through Genesis in 3˝ to 4 hours, or with less time say Ruth in about 15 minutes.

I find it helps to read through cover to cover quite quickly and it all fits into place better when you get to the NT referring to OT verses.

I didn't vote because there wasn't a section for me to vote on. I read the bible everytime it tickles my fancy. It just depends, and it's never in a pattern. Like, I haven't picked up my bible in months except to look up different names in the bible for the past few months, but this last week I studdied the first chapter of James for about 2 hours. And last summer (when I had a lot of time on my hands) I had that thing opened ALL the time, reading it and researching and studding ALL the time. It's just different with me.

I used to read my Bible everyday when I was about 7 or 8, then went off it for a while, and then started reading it occasionally when I got to my late teens and have dipped in and out of it for years. It is only on the last 6 months (shame on me) that I have started to read it every day. It is such a blessing. I used to find it boring and confusing, but I nearly always look forward to it now. I'm on the last chapter of Nehemiah today (I found out on Friday that I have been pronouncing it wrong for weeks! Ne-hee-mee-ah was how I pronounced it - how embarassing!). Nehemiah just seems like a person that I would know. I identify with him a lot and I love that he is shrewd and sensible as well as loving. I loved reading Habakuk, too. Not sure what to go on to next now!

I voted two or three times a week. I wish it could be more, but my busy schedule doesn't allow it just yet. I guess the fault lies in how much I intend on reading in one sitting. One or two verses isn't enough, and so I forego reading it altogether, which maybe that is not the right thing to do.
