When did the Coptic Church split with Rome and why?

I don't have the history in front of me but I don't believe that the Coptic Church split from "Rome". I believe the split occured prior to the schism of Rome from the Orthodox church. I believe the reason had to do with heresy regarding the doctrine of the Trinity. Furthermore, from what I have learned, this schism has aparently been reduced and there is talk of communion again between Orthodoxy and Coptic's.
I am sure someone with ready links will post something more academic and this will include sentences with something more definative than "I believe" or "I think".

The copts and other oriental Orthodox deny the Fourth Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon. The Fifth Ecumenical Council of Constantinople II formally anathemized them.
Anti-Chalcedonians:
The Copts of Egypt,
the Church of Armenia,
the Church of Ethiopia,
the Church of the Assyrians,
the Indian Orthodox Church,
the Eritrean Church.

Perfect! Thank you.

Wow!
I think that would be fantastic, and I believe they are Trinitarians now, so do they agree on all other issues?
Does anyone know any more about this?

The only theological difference between Eastern (right-teaching) Orthodoxy and Oriental Orthodoxy that I am aware of is Chalcedon. Everything else is cultural. I personally predict a unification within the next decade.
I like Coptic Icons a lot.

Wow, those are some cool looking icons! Is it okay for EO's to have them blessed?

Here's a short piece in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriental_Orthodox) about the Oriental Orthodox. There's a website called Orthodox Unity (http://www.orthodoxunity.org/) which probably has some useful information. This guy (http://www.geocities.com/mfignatius/index2.html) also has an interesting page.

I'm starting to see a lot of Orthodox bookstores that carry Coptic Icons. Ask your priest about that, I'm curious as well.
