Hey guys!

Well, the rain is finally letting up here (it started Friday) and the storm has pretty much passed over me. It's still in Tampa from what I understand.

Lots of tree limbs down, some flooding on my back porch, and some of the planks on the floor of the front porch pulled loose, but nothing too serious.

Thanks to everyone who prayed for us down here!

Has anyone heard from Photini yet? Her town took a direct hit as well. Last post I saw from her was in the tavern when she said she was shutting down for the storm. This makes 2 direct hits in a row for her.

How'd everybody else fare?

Glad you made it, Father Rick.

I hope Photini and her children are okay.

 I'm back! And we're okay. We were without electricity only for about 24 hours this time. It doesn't look like there was any major damage around here from Frances. Charley was much stronger. Just a few new tree limbs laying around and some more shingles. I feel so sorry for all the trouble that's been caused on each of the coasts.

I wish I could say that I've been handling all this well...but I can't. What a horrible experience this has been. I watch the television and just want to cry because of all the devastation.

Now they're watching a brand new hurricane Ivan down there. One meteorologist referred to Ivan as a possible Charley #2 today.

Lord have mercy. :crosself:

Photini,
It is good to see you weathered the storm and are doing ok. I have offered a few prayers for you and for all of Florida, and I know others here have as well. Can you tell me, do you know of any Orthodox Churches near Ocala (jurisdiction does not matter)?
Michael

I'll answer in the Taverna. Thank you so much everybody for the prayers.

Dear Photini,

I thought you took refuge in the local taverna. I was thinking - that must be a huge taverna to serve as a shelter.
LOL

How is your job with all this destruciton all around?

My prayers for you all.

Lovinglyin Christ,
Elizabeth

Thanks Elizabeth. During Charley, my workplace had part of it's roof damaged, and one of the air conditioning units blew off. As a result, we've had major leaks on the inside of the store. We also had a BAD sewage backup. (I'm glad I wasn't there for that! ) They didn't have electricity there for over a week, but we were running on a generator so we could open. We lost a very expensive amount of drugs that must remain refrigerated. Nevertheless, we were open. It's important that we stay open, because people need their medications, especially during times like these.

I was quite disappointed in the company I work for though, because they are not compensating their employees that have been affected by the hurricanes. I will not be paid for the time I was forced to miss. This has been troubling to me, because of how HUGE my company is. I am so thankful for the generosity of everyone here for their prayers and help during all this. Please continue to pray for us, as the hurricane season is not over until November.

Good to hear from you, Photini! (I'm sure praying that Ivan breaks up before it hits land anywhere.)

Photini, how are the food and gas supplies? I wasn't able to send anything before but I can send you something now if you still need funds or anything else.

That would actually be great.

I have gas in the car, but unfortunately some sort of belt is about to break in it. It's making a horrible whacking noise...so I won't be driving that car until it's fixed. I'm being driven around by my aunt. Hopefully my cousin will be able to fix the car tomorrow, if we can find an auto parts store open.

We are getting the beginning of Frances now. We were out of power for all of an hour or so and ate dinner in candlelight. Not a problem to find candles in this house :) I can just imagine what doing without AC/refrigeration for days was like :( Kudos to those who work the power grids these times.

Glad to hear all is OK with you Photoni.

I can't promise much but hopefully it'll help...

How did Bubba and ZeePak fare the storm?

Photoni, I'm glad to hear you're ok. There's some flooding around my neighborhood and downtown Tampa, and a tree blew down in my back yard, but other than that everything is fine here. My area got off a lot easier than the poor people on the east coast who lost their homes.

The people at OCMC - Orthodox Christian Missions - said that the staff, homes, and the buildings are okay.

Well, Frances has decided to pay Western PA a visit. It's not bad, just annoying. Being cold and wet is no fun, but at least I have a place to live.

I'm still praying for all our Floridians.

Frances is paying NE Ohio a visit as well today. It was raining real hard this am, the rest of the day has just been cold and wet as well.
