Chapels and churches often have stained glass, which not only separate these buildings from ordinary buildings, but these works of art often have stories to tell us.
Please post stained glass and your thoughts on it.
**************
When I was in Rome, one very short day, and I entered Saint Peter's Basilica, I was overwhelmed by the size of the building.
And yes there was all sorts of art in the place.
And one of the most famous images of that church is the "Window of the Holy Spirit" by Bernini (A.D. 1666).
Not actually made of glass, but of white alabaster, this window shines light upon the altar and upon the assembled Church.

I think how appropriate is this scene where the angels of heaven surround and worship the Holy Spirit, as we on Earth "surround" the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. And we rightly worship the Lord.

The little girl running represents five-year-old Meghan O'Neill, who was born with Late Infantile Batten Disease, a rare and always fatal metabolic disease found only in children. Meghan passed away on August 21, 2002.
Let us pray for Meghan and for her family.

This window's image was the nun's Christmas Card when they first moved into this new maonastery.
All their stained glass was made by Casola's Stained Glass Studio.
Sure is a good copy of Bernini's in St. Peter's Basilica!

Apocalypse 5:7-10 (DR)
And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne.
And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book and to open the seals thereof: because thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation:
And hast made us to our God a kingdom and priests, and we shall reign on the earth.

Edinburgh Castle War Memorial - there are some interesting modern stained glass windows. I can't find any pics online so you'll have to put up with my photos.
I'm not sure how I feel about seeing stained glass with planes and graf zeppelins, a woman with a sewing machine, etc, but it certainly makes for some interesting sightseeing.

Buckfast Abbey stained glass window- it's the only modern part of the Abbey Church
Quote from Buckfast website:
The Blessed Sacrament Chapel
In contrast to the rest of the Abbey, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel brings a touch of modern design to the Abbey. After the main church was completed, the chapel was added to provide a place for quiet prayer, especially during the summer months when thousands of people visit the church daily.
The splendid stained glass windows depicting Christ at the Last Supper, was designed and made in the Abbey's workshops by the monks. (http://www.buckfast.org.uk/Stained.htm)
