The following is takeing from the virtual tour of the National Shrine and is based on a set of stain glass windows:

The First Joyful Mystery
The Annunciation
Old Testament Reflection: In the midst of a burning bush, an angel appeared to Moses, telling him of Israel's forthcoming redemption from slavery in Egypt (Ex 3:1-4). An angel also appeared to the Virgin Mary announcing the Savior who would give all redemption from sin.

The Second Joyful Mystery
The Visitation
Old Testament Reflection: Obededom welcomed the Ark of the Covenant into his home with joy and reverent awe (2 Samuel 6:9-11). In the same way, St. Elizabeth received Mary and the Child in her womb

The Fourth Joyful Mystery
The Presentation
Old Testament Reflection: Hannah presented her son to the temple priest, and dedicated him to the service of the Lord (1 Samuel 1:24-28). Joseph and Mary went to the temple to consecrate their Son to the Lord, according to the law.

The Third Joyful Mystery
The Birth of Christ
Old Testament Reflection: Isaiah prophesied the virgin birth of Emmanuel (Isaiah 7:14). Born in a cold and lowly stable, the divine infant King was the cause of angelic exultation
The Fifth Joyful Mystery
Christ Found in the Temple

Old Testament Reflection:The young prophet Daniel amazed the elders of his time, when he cleverly proved the innocence of the falsely accused Susanna (Daniel 13:45-65). The Child Jesus conversed with the teachers in the temple, astounding them with wisdom beyond His years.

The First Glorious Mystery
The Resurrection

Old Testament Reflection: Just as Joseph was rescued from the deep cistern (Genesis 37:12-28), Jesus descended to the depths of the nether world under the weight of human sins and then rose to new life.

The Second Glorious Mystery
The Ascension

Old Testament Reflection: Imparting the spirit of prophecy to his disciple, Elijah gloriously rode to heaven in a flaming chariot (2 Kings 2:1-15). Jesus, His earthly work completed, rose more gloriously still to take His seat at the right hand of the Father.

The Third Glorious Mystery
The Descent of the Holy Spirit

Old Testament Reflection: God came to Moses at Sinai to give the law, written on stone tablets (Exodus 19-20:1). The Holy Spirit descended in fiery splendor upon Mary and the Apostles, recalling the covenant made with the Israelites

The Fourth Glorious Mystery
The Assumption

Old Testament Reflection: Solomon brought the Ark of the Covenant to its place of repose in the Temple (1 Kings 8:19). At the end of her earthly life, God carried Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant, to her heavenly repose.

The Fifth Glorious Mystery
The Coronation

Old Testament Reflection: As Bathsheba received honor from her son Solomon (1 Kings 2:19), Mary is exalted as Queen of Heaven and Earth by her Son Jesus

The First Sorrowful Mystery
The Agony in the Garden

Old Testament Reflection: Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve, who were expelled from the garden (Genesis 3:23-24). In Gethsemane Jesus healed the sinful legacy of Eden

The Second Sorrowfull Mystery
not on their site right now
The Crowning with Thorns
The Third Sorrowful Mystery

Old Testament Reflection: Unlike the shameful surrender of Jehoiachin (2 Kings 24:8-17), having given over the Kingdom of Judah to the Babylonians, Christ's silent submission to captivity and cruel treatment was not a defeat for the Kingdom of God.

The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery
Jesus Carries His Cross

Old Testament Reflection: In obedience to his father, Isaac carried the wood for his intended sacrifice (Genesis 22:6-10). In the same way, Jesus took the cross on His shoulder and carried it to His place of execution.

The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery
The Crucifixion
Old Testament Reflection: The blood of the Iamb spared the Hebrews from death (Exodus 12:1-13). Jesus is the Lamb of God, whose blood was spilt to take away sin and its punishment, eternal damnation.
