If that is your questionI gave my life to Jesus after attending a high school church retreat a few weeks ago, but what do I do now? I know I'm going to Heaven when I die, but what does God want me to do in the meantime? --
then here is an answer I found suitable for you
I'm very thankful you have given your life to Jesus Christ, because that's the most important decision you will ever make. And one reason it is important is because it marks the beginning of a whole new life for you -- a life that begins right now, and will continue until the moment God takes you home to Heaven.

What does God want you to do? Listen: As long as you are on this earth, He wants you to walk with Him every day. You see, the Bible says that there are only two ways of living. The first way is to live for yourself -- to do what you want to do, following your own desires and goals. But the second way is to live for Christ -- to do what He wants you to do, following His will and His plan for your life. Tragically, most people follow the first way and ignore the second -- and never experience true joy.

But Christ calls you to follow Him -- and that's the most exciting life you could ever choose. Think of it: God loves you, and He wants to help you and guide you! You are now God's child because of Christ; now live like one. The Bible says, "Live as children of light ... and find out what pleases the Lord" (Ephesians 5:8, 10).

How does this happen each day? It happens as you read the Bible and allow its truth to shape your life. It happens also through prayer and through fellowship with other believers. Never take your eyes off of Christ

Just repeating a prayer of 25 words or less doesn't send anyone to heaven actually.Going through a water baptism ceremony and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit from God are requirements for salvation.(John3:3-9)And then there's that big problem with forgiveness.God states in the bible that He won't forgive us unless we first forgive others who have harmed us.Hey how come that preacher said that to go to heaven I only needed to repeat 25 words or less?Maybe I'll join his religion.I wonder what's it called.

Although I disagree with drdean that baptism is a requirement for salvation (although I dont disagree that it is proof of it), the rest of what he said is true. I once heard a youth Christian speaker say that if you aren't moving forward in your walk with Christ, you are moving backward. Guard yourself in the words of Christ. Make sure you set a part a time of your day EVERYDAY where you can pray and communicate with God. During this time you should also read a chapter of the Bible. Get a good study Bible, there are Bibles for teenagers, for women, for youth leaders, for adults, for moms, and many many different versions such as NIV and more. So you are bound to find one that you like. There are also devotional books that can help you organize better what parts of the Bible to read and give you some thoughts to think and questions and challenges that you can actually apply to your life. And then make sure after doing these things you follow what the Bible says. When you have grown in your faith enough you should start witnessing to your nonChristian friends and tell them about what you found! After starting the daily prayer and reading the Bible thing a few months ago I feel like Ive taken leaps in my relationship with Christ then in all the time Ive been a Christian! God bless you guys. ;)
