Well, "With This Love (choir)" by Peter Gabriel, from Passion, the soundtrack for the Last Temptation of Christ came up on iTunes, and I was reminded that Passion is my favorite background music for reading the Gospels.
What's yours?
current music: Peter Gabriel - With This Love (choir)

Just a note on The Last Temptation of Christ:
Why, O why was a movie with such a fantastic premise and such a fantastic soundtrack SO BADLY MADE? Didn't we outgrow the blonde Jesus after The Gospel Road in 1974?
current music: Peter Gabriel - Wall of Breath (iTunes shuffle turned off for a while)

All depends on what I'm reading and how I'm feeling. Anything from celtic instrumental to Metallica.

Recently in a magazine interview, Muhammad Ali said that he was so great that they would make him white after he died. Pressed by the interviewer, the Champ explained that that was pretty much what they did with Jesus.
Lamentably, the blonde, Anglo-Saxon Christian we know as Jesus is alive and well. Jesus the Jew was crucified, I'm told.

I'm with you silence folk- not that I like silence, but i am very easily distracted, even by my own thoughts!

Instead of music, I prefer the sound of the wind blowing. Sometimes it's the natural wind, sometimes the sound of my mower while I work in the yard.

Birdsong in the morning is nice, too. Sometimes I hear the two and a half year old triplets next door chattering away, which is equally pleasant.

Another 'silence, please,' person here. :) Note that silence does not exclude normal sounds of wind, birds singing, rain on the roof, etc. Those are lovely. Music usually just distracts me.

I love to listen to classical music when reading.
I listen to Mozarts Vespers or anything Mozart for that matter. Vivaldi is great too. I also love to listen to chant or to the music of Hildegard of Bingen.
