View Full Version : How often do you listen to Christian music?

Are you a Christian music junkie? Is the only time you hear Christian music at church?
Actually, I find most Christian music boring. Hopefuly, that will change when I get to glory. Probably because the music will be quite decent. You know, more than 3 chords, maybe even a modulation once in a while. And spiraling harmonies!
Don't get me started.
Cheers,
Rick

I listen to get when I get the chance at school, home, car, church, everywhere, there was a time I would play it while I sleep still kinda do. Where I live we call it Gospel Music some call it church music. But I love Gospel music but there are so many types of Gospel music like : Southern,Black,Country,Catholoc, and many more I listen to Black Gospel. Like Mary Mary, Fred Hammond, Shekinah Glory, Kirk, Donnie Mc Clurkin, and many more:)

I never listen to Christian music... I dont know, something about it just turns me off. I love Jesus and am completely committed to him, but is music non-Christian if it isn't labelled Christian? NO WAY!!! I love the music I listen to because I feel like it displays better talent sometimes and more real lyrics.
Here is something to think about... If God is in all things, then is there really a difference in "secular" and "christian" .... I dont believe there is. Sometimes those considered "non-christian" artists are way better musicians, but that doesn't mean they aren't "of God." God is in all because he created us... That means he is present in all music...

I cant say I listen to a lot of it... but there are very new christian artists, in which the songs are really nice... they have inspirational positive lyrics and nice music to it.
People usually turn away when they hear "christian music" thinking it's all just worship... but like i just recently heard a new song by Brian littrell of the backstreet boys "Welcome HOme" and it really is nice, even non-christians would appreciate the message it sends.
I dont know what people's opinions are about artists who are new to the christian scene, but i really did enjoy his new song... and last year's remake "in christ alone"

I like music period, but the reason I like music is because it expresses how we feel, and How I feel about God is most important to me. Sometimes I'm sad, or confused, or joyful....these are all incorporated in the music I make or listen and praise or worship to.
But secular music is also great and if I like what I hear I will listen to it. The world's music lets us in on what's going on in the world... which is helpful since we live here...and I find myself usually in prayer no matter what I'm listening to.

Just as one must feed the body with healthy food to grow lean and athletic-- so must one listen/read/speak/think upon Chirst and His goodness for their soul/spirit to grow stronger

Now I know I am a normal Christian, but as many of us here is the deep south the only Christian music there is - is Southern Gospel, and a little blue grass Gospel too, mixed in wiht an occasional traditional hymn.

Today the Christian media industry is so fresh and filling with an exciting breadth of style and relevence for every Christian audiance. It is becoming a viable evangelical tool as well as a powerful means of staying open and focused on the Spirit. Praise and thanks to the Lord God for this blessing.

I agree with you totally...too pop music oriented, and I see secular country and rock music going this way as well. There is definately a need for Christian music to branch out into being more unique and different than the music of the world, like Christians ought to be!

I might like Southern Gospel and Blue Grass Christian music a lot more than the pop oriented Christian music up north...something for me to look into!

I listen to Southern Gospel 99.9% of the time. And, though I'm in the South as well, even if there was more Contemporary and such, I'd still be a Southern Gospel man.

Since no one else has comments I'll post. There is a ton of good, talented Christian music out there. Check out a Family Christian store. Some people have this false idea that it's "borning". Even though I don't think worship music is boring I like heavier faster paced things that really get my fired up for God. Give me a little E.SO, Project 86 or something like that. :)

It's the only music I listen to. Well, except for the songs that come on my kids movies that will occasionally get stuck in my head!LOL
Christian music is very spiritual and is a form of worship, and I believes draws us closer to God.
I believe some of the other music out there today and old rock too, is demonic. I can literally feel it when I hear it and it disgusts me.<remember, I said some not all.:)

Are you a Christian music junkie? Is the only time you hear Christian music at church?
Being in a Christian Band I tend to listen to Christian music. I do listen to all different styles of music because I write music and I am trying to come up with a different sound...put a little bit of everything into it! Shake it up a bit-plus I am a youth leader so I try to listen to what the kids in my youth group listen to so that I can apply it to situations in the bible and also help them see that Christian music can be just as good as non-Christian music, or better in my opinion!

There are so many styles of Chrisitian music today, that there is something for every taste. Sure some of it is terrible but that is not limited to christian music there are lots of non Christian music (if I could use that term) that is just as terriable.

I have to say that most Christian music I've heard hasn't appealed to me.
I love music, and have found it extremely comforting and inspiring. Some of my most deeply spiritual moments have been while listening to what would generally be regarded as rock music, though of the more thoughtful kind. However the most overwhelming experience I've had was when my wife and I were in Lincoln cathedral, and the choral singing brought tears to my eyes, such was the emotional effect of it all.
More recently I have heard some contemporary Christian music that I liked,so maybe God is helping me to listen more openly.

i've gotten sort of away from a lot of American music in general.
i will always love christian and country- but i've been into Jpop and French music. I do have my "favorites" playlist that i put on that includes everything from pop, rock, foreign and country on it. i will always love Audio Adrenaline, Point of Grace and ZoeGirl... Stacie Orrico.
i like some mainstream, but generally not. every other word is cussing and about banging someone... how boring and cruel. i like songs with messages...of course not in foreign because i dont know what they are saying but its a way out of shallow meaningless words and i can enjoy the song.
