Christian music has changed tremendously over the years. It is excellent quality and not boring at all! 98% of the time, I listen to Christian music...the other 2% of the time I listen to U2 and oldies. Some of my favorite Christian artists are Third Day (they are awesome in concert), Tree63, Joy Williams, Bethany Dillion, Michael W.Smith, Newsboys, and Casting Crowns (their song, Who Am I, is excellent:)

I have to say that I really don't like Christian music to much....so I don't really listen to it.

I love my CCM, so I listen as much as I can. I only listen to other music (besides P&W) if I can't pick up a Christian station, and don't have any CDs with me. Even then I prefer classical music...

I listen to Christian music ALOT But I also listen to different kinds of music so that I can relate to those who I try to witness to. sometimes, I will listen to a certain kind of music so that I can get an opportunity to tell them about the things that God has used me todo.

I listen to Christian music most of the time. Not only does it bring you into the presence of God, but it lifts you up, comforts you in the storms and brings peace to the soul.

There are insuficient options on this poll for me to select an answer. I'd say I listen two specifically "Christian" music about 20% of the time outside of church. Does that mean I'm a bad person or anything?

I enjoy seeking Christian music that is not "officially" labeled as Christian. Audioslave maybe? One of the things that is amazing, and affirming, about the Holy Spirit is it will tell us whether the music we are listening to is praising, seeking, or ignoring God.

I listen to Christian music about 80% of the time. I love CeCe Winans, Jaci Valasquez, Andre Crouch, etc. I do listen to secular music once in a while but I am very particular about what I choose to listen to and it is music I grew up with (70's and 80's) and nothing that would have a negative content in it. As they say, you are what you eat.

Does that mean I'm a bad person or anything? No, no. It's not a sin to not listen to Christian Music. I listen to Secular Music all the time, along with Christian Music.

How do i praise God outside of music? The Bible, obviously. :liturgy:

I listen to both, but every morning it comes on as my alarm, so I listen for about 30 mins (it's a Christian Radio Station, with a good mix of Christian and Positive Secular music).

It also depends on my mood - if I'm depressed, and really need cheering up, I'm more inclined to go and listen to Christian music, than to put on secular...

It's pretty much the only music I choose to listen to...Although sometimes secular music is playing at places I can't control.

Me too. The only music I choose to listen to is Christian. I do not believe that all secular music is inherently bad. However, it is a replacement for music that is inherently good, that is, music that gives God glory. Isn't that the purpose of music in the first place.

Fortunately in the area I live, we're able to listen the only Christian radio channel in Finland.

I listen the radio all the day while I'm working. I also like to listen the popular music, but during the last half of the year the gospel music has taken the main part of the music I'm listening to.

I find Christian music very relative to my life. I have a song for everything. I can rest in the fact that it won't be vulgar or offensive to God. I love the encouragement I find in it along with the opportunity to praise God in just one more area of my life!

Everyday. Since I have a co-worker that rides with me at work I don't listen to it 100% of the time. We split the radio time. When riding alone I usually listen to sermons, on the radio, most of the time.

your poll didnt give enough possible answers so i didnt vote. i may turn to the CR once or twice a day but depending on what their playing at the time;I either keep it on or switch it.I dont like country music at all and some of it is based in country sounding stuff.wont say the certain band that is always on but i dont like it even if it is considered Gods music.i have to have a pleasing sound to me to even want to listen to words.theres very few Christian artists i listen to.like MWS:) Stryper:)

I put only at church because the other categories didn't really fit. I do listen to a Christian radio station occasionally; but more for the talk programs. I like a very select group of songs, though; they have to be really good as I tend to like country and the songs tend to have a more pop rock type style.

Another benefit is that it keeps my mind on God.

I listen to it most of the time, now that there are a couple of good stations around here. Got a good collection of CDs if I'm out of range of any good stations. Relienk K, Switchfoot, Newsboys, Audio Adreneline, Tree 63, Mercy Me, Chris Tomlin, etc....

But I still get a hankerin' for the stuff I grew up on, and I like to find the classic rock station occasionally. Or the Alternative station when I'm in Columbus. But you can count me out of the pop music scene. Never did like it!

I voted 'only at church' but in reality I do listen to a little when the songs cross over into mainstream or if secular bands have a sort-of Christian/religious themed song that plays on mainstream stations. Examples would be Jars of Clay's "Flood" or (don't know the song title or band) but the song has the lyrics "I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth, I look at my daughter and I believe". By the way, if any of you know the song I'm talking about let me know. I've been wanting to download it for some time. Thanks!:)

It really depends on what you call "christian music".

I listen to Gregorian Chants while praying and meditating (and no...i'm not RC).

I like classical music, and a lot of the music written by the likes of Handel and Bach and Vivaldi are christian music.

Try listening to a good recording of Vivaldi's "Gloria" on a good sound system on full volume ...... There's nothing quite like it.

There are so many amazing Christian Bands out there! The coolest thing is that there is a spiritually healthy band to replace any secular band's sound and at the same time give you encouragement from better (godly) lyrics. My all time fav band is Ghoti Hook. I love christian punk music! I also like Thousand Foot Krutch, Pillar, Kutless, Barlow Girl, Superchick, Switchfoot and Relient K. Check out those bands for some great music that will rock your face off and bless you at the same time!

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.

I do not listen to "modern, contemporary" Christian music. It means absolutely nothing to me. It is not scriptural, it's 'feel-good' music, and that's what Satan is all about. It's his job to masquerade as an angel of light in order to confuse us. No, contemporary music is not for me.

Christian music, to me, is spiritual hymns found in the hymnals at church. Rock of Ages, Amazing Grace, Holy, Holy, Holy, He Lives, etc. These are songs of worship.

At least with secular music, I can sort it out much easier.

However, I spend much of my day in silence, or listing to the Word of God over the internet from places like intouch.org, where Dr. Stanley has stored his sermons that he's broadcast for the past 4 years.

In the car, I listen to talk radio on 'family talk', xm's 170 where I can hear the Bible answer man on the way home from work live, or for the drive to work I listen to our local Salem radio affiliate to grab Dr. Stanley's morning radio broadcast.

If I'm with others, well, I'm listening to easy listening music or classical.

whooo! i'm glad alot of people listen to christian music most of the time.
i think that the Christian music industry is highly underrated. there are tons of gifted Christian artists out there. i'm glad for those that are highly respected by the secular listeneres yet uncompromising their values. to those artists, i say. rock on.

but there will be a time coming soon when music glorifying Christ will reach the top of the charts. and stay there for a while.
im hopin to be a part of the wagon when that happens.

I have all my favourite tracks on my mp3 player and it plays in my car constantly. Then it gets played at work - we've lots of Pentacostal Christians in the operating theatre were I work - and they all like to listen to my collection of music. Then I listen to it (as I am now) whilst I'm on my pc!
List includes Delirious, SonicFlood, Matt Redman, Brian Doerksen, Lindell Cooley.
I liked Buddy Holly and The Animals in my youth so maybe that's what accounts for it now!;)

Most of contemporary "Christian music", isn't even written by "Christians". When the music biz found out what a profitable market the "Christian" market is, they put lots of songwriters to work. Too much of it has bad theology and is long of fluff and short on substance. That's why I stick with the old hymns of the faith, especially those that came out of the Reformation. Now they have substance, and are teaching tools for good theology.

Part of the greatest commandment is to love God with our minds, something that is lost on many these days.

Didn't vote because none of the answers really apply to me. I listen to it more than just at church - but it isn't all of or even most of the time. Thank goodness for The White Horse Inn and sermonaudio.com - they generally provide me with good listening material.

Sadly - as Christian music has become more popular many performers have become more worldly. Just because a Christian performs it doesn't mean that it's Christian music. There's lots of "Christian" music out there that is almost heretical, but that's a whole other topic. I just try to be really discerning, I like Christian music that's God centered as opposed to man centered. I also avoid the whole "Jesus is my boyfriend" stuff.

MercyMe's lyrics have quite a bit of scripture in them when you listen... their guys are extremely Christ-centered and focused in P/W songs. They are Christian rock but more of a Texas-blues based sort of rock, not hard rock.

And we've ALL heard "I Can Only Imagine". (Hey, it wasn't their fault if the media's overplayed it to death... no pun intended... but I still love it :amen: )

Speaking of hymns! Their lead singer, Bart Millard, just released a CD of hymns that is amazingly beautiful... I bought a copy for my 83-yr old Mom and she just loves it. This is not a woman who is easy to please! :D

Next time you're in a store take a listen if you get a chance. :)

My husband listens to the old gospel music on the car radio, kind of country music-like which I don't like. It's irritating to be riding in the car with him but I've tolerated it for years and will do so for years more - it's a small thing to do for him.

I listen to Christian Music every day.. It makes the day go so much better.. because it asjusts my attitude for the day.. It draws me close to God.. opens my ears to hear the plans God has for my day..

I wake up to it when my alarm goes off.. right now I have a cd on it from Josh Young - Praise & Worship with John Paul Jackson..

I have been enjoying prophetic worship lately.. draws me right into the presence of the Lord..

I usually listen to Cloud by Day by JoAnn McFatter as i make breakfast & do my morning chores.

At work, I listen to Christian Music that I have in my Windows Media Library..

Sometimes I go over to my church at lunchtime.. to wave flags in Praise & Worship.. as I listen to something prophetic.. Just purchased Temple Dance andother JoAnn McFatter CD.. He has me dancing.. me.. with 2 left feet & all.. Our God is Mighty.. Nothing is impossible for Him..

I listen at night when I walk on my treadmill.. i go longer & easier when I listen..

Music encourages me.. It is an integral part of my walk with the Lord..

Although only a portion of that music is contemporary Christian music. A lot of it is non-secular Christmas music, and another good portion is... well... children's songs. Yes, I listen to children's songs at age 17 and in college...

I have a baptist friend that gave me this multipage handout from a sermon that they had on the dangers of Christian Rock...that it is not from God. It used to be that I thought the only variations of Christian music saounded like hymns, or were classical music, or bluegrass style gospel. None of these appealed to me, so I didn't listen much. Nowadays, there are so many different styles of christian music available, I don't see how anyone can make half and effort and NOT find something they like.

Now, I don't listen to much music at all - but when I do it's either Christian or my old 80's favorites. The only other music that doesn't make me sick because of the messages is Country - and now-a-days that's pushing it.

I would have to say that I listen to Christian music 90% of the time. If I'm not listening to Christian music, I listen to soft rock or classical. But Christian music is by far my favorite! I love how uplifted I feel while listening to it. I listen to worship songs and I just start worshipping God! Even in the car! lol

I don't generally listen to contemporary Christian music simply because there aren't many bands in that category that I like or can even tolerate.

Most classical music I listen to is religious in nature, so I get a lot of that in. And then I like the musical "Godspell", so I suppose that counts. :)

Blindside = awesome.
I listen to all kinds of music. I own both Christian and secular music.
Refusing to listen to secular music is like refusing to read a book because its not the bible. Or the newspaper. Or whatever. Its just dumb imo.

I listen to a Contemporary Christian radio station most of the time. If they are having a special talking program, I listen to pop rock.
