Remember to Pray

Remember, prayer is how we get close to God. First we tell Him how we feel about everything in our lives, and also, listen to what He says to us while we are in prayer.

Forgive me if I just add something here and it is considered out of place. I'm new and not sure how each forum is set out.
I've discussed prayer on different sites and people see it differently, and some use one type or a combination of prayer types. For example some set aside either once or afew times a day to pray alone. Some pray set prayers, some make up prayers as the need arises. I guess I mostly send up arrow prayers all through the day. Anything I see, things people tell me, tv and radio and on christian sites on the prayer forums.
I think we all need to find the way that works for us, and look internally at whether it is helping us in our relationship daily with Jesus Christ. What works for us, may not work for others, and we must see their ways as just as legitimate and loving.

I believe you should incorporate all forms of prayer at our disposal. We are to be in continual prayer all day and all night long. Arrow prayers are to be used to keep in contact with God throughout our day. Spending real time on our knees or on our faces is what God is seeking. That is when we can take time with God alone and just communicate heart thought, Holy Spirit fed prayers. God wants us to love Him enough to go out of our way to serve Him. To be a living sacririce.

I pray every day, and the format I use depends on the mood I'm in and the subject or subjects I'm praying about. Usually, I just chat with God like I would with a friend. Sometimes, though, I'll go on my knees, when it feels right to do so.

The reason for closing a prayer, "in Jesus's name" is based on the following scriptures

Eph 5:20 "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Col 3:17 "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

Our prayers should be addressed to God the Father as Jesus instructed in Matt 6:9, "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." We close our prayers in "Jesus' name." In closing a prayer a Christian is recognizing that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and "advocate" between us and God the Father.


1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"

Dear Solo 66,

I have various types of prayers, most are running commentaries to God, not formal, memorized things. Most times I just feel as if I am talking At God, not TO God. Yet, I know that it is important to keep the dialogue open. My problem is hearing that still small voice. Sometimes it is difficult to decipher God's responses. Today, my prayer is not so good. It is like I am in a void somewhere in my mind, kinda like talking through thick layers of cotton batting. Hopefully God will hear.

He hears Heather He always does. I have felt the same way though. That is when you have to act on faith

Didymus, I know that I have to have faith. Have you ever noticed that it is those little things that are hard, faith, hope, trust. At least they are for me. I have had answers to prayer, but there are a lot of prayers I have questions about. Wondering why God chose not to answer them. I know, I know, God knows what is best for His children. That we do not always know what is best for us. But sometimes, I wonder if God is paying attention.

I try to be in constant communication with God. It's like, when I'm working, I'll be talking (sometimes aloud) to God, I won't be in this Eyes closed, head bowed thing, but I would be talking to God. I thought I'd add one thing, I don't think that the "In Jesus' Name" is about saying that at the end of every prayer, but I think it's more of you saying, if it's in your will Jesus, do it.

Yes, when the Bible says to pray continually it is saying to be in a state of mind of being in constant communing with God.

I agree Solo. I think of it as living prayerfully.
