This is the poll thread. The poll is multiple choice; vote for all the ones you like, not just your "favorite". Also, comment in the thread. Unless we have a clear winner, we'll probably do another thread with a couple more choices, while we think about what we want in a forum name.

What about "We are One"

I like in this order
Love and Grace - Liberal Chrisitianty *
Faith Through Love - Liberal Christianity
* I would just like to switch the order to Grace and Love since is through grace and faith that we know God's love.
or maybe Grace, Faith and Love - Liberal Christianity
We can't have love (as Jesus wants us to love) without Grace or Faith.

(Note that we'll probably do another poll in a week or two with new ideas in it.)

What about "We are One"
"One in Love"?

I like all the suggestions -- except that "The Ice Cream Parlor" should not be the forum name, but the name of the fellowship thread (à la Reilly's Tavern and the other Congregation forum fellowship threads).

Looks like ice cream is going down and I don't have the bucks for a campaign.
How about, "Quo vadis? -- Liberal Christianity."

"One in Love"?
Yeah I like that too :D

Hmmm...None of the above are quite right, though "Liberal Christians--Grace and Love" comes closer than the others. But I don't think we've found the right name yet. It'll come to us. Give it time until it does.

How about
Liberal Christians - Faith in Action in the World
or Love could replace Faith.
One distinctive of liberal Chrisitans is perhaps a greater desire to get involved in the world and less of an inclination to remain in a holy huddle.

Shalom!! Liberal Christianity
In my experience liberal Christians use that term far more than most other Christians do and it fits in nicely with some of the other non-english names given to other forums.

I like that one the best!
How do you spell relief? Relief from the literal method of reading the Bible and (mis)understanding Christian faith. I would like to rescue the Bible from Fundamentalism (also the title of a book). Assuming this to be a desirable objective, it requires us to read the Bible with Jewish eyes. Shalom! Liberal Christianity expresses that thought and that agenda.
Shalom means peace as well as a greeting (hello or goodbye).
If we wanted to get fancy, we could make it: Shalom Am Berit! Liberal Christianity. Am Berit means people of the Covenant.
My two cents.

I like 1, 4, and 5. 2 is wordy. I think that 4 captures the sense of the community as well as other suggestions.
P.S. - that kid's going to have a stomach ache.

Koinonia has a great meaning, but will everyone understand it?
Is this forum a House of Prayer?
Do we want to welcome all people? Perhaps, but I don't think we welcome everything they might want to post, and we don't won't to make the moderators' job impossible. This needs careful thought.
For many - more accurate, but what message does it convey?
Straight up Spong:
Believers in Exile
A bit negative? Perhaps a ghetto mentality? Or elitist?
Based on Jesus
Moved With Compassion (many, but see esp. Matt. 13:14; Mark 1:41; Luke 7:13)
Yes, but can we express it better?
Sorry, don't mean to sound negative. I'm trying to be objective, although probably can't help being at least a bit subjective.;)
Shalom's a good word. Perhaps we could fit that into something.

What's So Funny 'bout Peace, Love, and Understanding.
As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin’ for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?
And each time I feel like this inside,
There’s one thing I wanna know:
What’s so funny ’bout peace love & understanding? ohhhh
What’s so funny ’bout peace love & understanding?
And as I walked on
Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.
’cause each time I feel it slippin’ away, just makes me wanna cry.
What’s so funny ’bout peace love & understanding? ohhhh

I'd suggest not using "whoever will..." since that would be in violation of forum rules. This section of the forums is for christians only. :)
I wish there was a way of completely getting away from the word "liberal" and finding something that better states who and what we are.

The point of the "whosoever" name isn't that, say, non-Christians can post in this part of the forums, but that anyone who wants to come to my church can, even if they maybe can't preach. And, more importantly, that anyone who wants to come to Christ can. Many denominations set limits, but "liberals" generally don't.

I understand the name. That doesn't guarantee that others will understand the name. I don't think it would be a good idea to choose a name that could knowingly cause confusion. While I know there are some here who would love for that "whosoever" to really mean whosoever, the forum rules preclude that.

This has been set up for those of us who think of ourselves as liberal Christians, as far as I know. For people who love the Lord and seek to do his will but refuse to be dogmatic and try to love others as Christ loves us and are told by some that we are not "proper Christians".

I with that 100% Karin and am not trying to change the substance or purpose of this section at all. I just wish there was a word other than "liberal" because of the negative connotations often associated with the word. I think there are many who would fit in here very well who will be scared off by the word. Additionally, there will be those who come here to cause trouble because they have been taught "liberal" = "antichrist". I'm not trying to change people's beliefs, just dialogue about the language we use.

Good point. :)
I do think there is a difference. I'm willing to suffer for my belief in Christ. I'm willing to let Christ be a stumbling block. I don't identify strongly enough with "liberal" to do the same. But, I understand others do identify strongly with that label and I'm okay with that. Opinions were asked for and I have voiced mine. I don't expect that my opinion alone is enough to actually change the name. :)
