:) ancient history :) (16 years old - 1988)

Dr Brown has no love for Rabbinic Judaism, messianic or otherwise.......

Doc Brown, while very familiar with Rabbinic Judaism, has removed himself from all forms of Judaism for quite some time. He is a Jewish christian... he does not even adhere to Messianic Judaism. He is probably the worst source to turn to on subjects that are in question within MJ'ism.

When Doc Brown makes statements like these:Frankly, when I pray the Siddur during worship services, or when I intensively study the Talmud or the Legal Codes from which many of the traditions come, I am keenly aware of the fact that rabbinic Judaism is a religion alien to the New Covenant faith. I can't help but think he is either 100% ignorant (which to me obviously isn't the case) or is purposefully being deceptive.

makes me sick.

Is he the one that debated with Rabbi Singer a few years ago?

I didn't even read it. I just sensed that most likely it was from an unbalanced source. :prayer:

Dr Brown did do a debate wit a Rabbinic Rabbi several years ago:
1) Dr Brown was more favorable toward MJism at the time
2) it was on a video
3) I don't *think* it was with Tovia Singer.....

I saw this when i was looking up more about Michael Brown:

TODAY, JULY 8th, 2004, 2-5pm at www.libertybroadcasting.com

Rabbi Shmuley Broadcasts His Nationally Syndicated Radio Talk Show Live =
from

The Fire School of Ministry in North Carolina

In a history-setting precedent, Rabbi Shmuley becomes one of the first =
orthodox Rabbis ever to lecture to Christian Missionaries as to why it =
is 'immoral' to convert Jews to Christianity

The Show will be Done Live in front of a Missionary Student Audience at =
the Fire School with Dr. Michael Brown as Shmuley's Guest in heated =
debate

Rabbi Shmuley has been an outspoken opponent of Christian proselatizing =
efforts aimed at Jews. He has debated the issue in front of thousands of =
people with Dr. Michael Brown, a scholar and Jewish believer in Jesus =
who is Founder of the Fire School of Ministry in North Carolina. After =
several high-profile and fiery debates in New York and Dallas, Dr. Brown =
graciously invited Rabbi Shmuley to address the 150 students from 15 =
nations at the Fire school who are trained to go out as missionaries all =
over the world. Rabbi Shmuley accepted and said that he would like to =
lecture on the growing political closeness of the Jewish and Christian =
communities, and how such closeness is undermined by what Rabbi Boteach =
refers to as 'immoral and misguided' efforts to target Jews for =
conversion. Dr. Brown agreed for Rabbi Boteach to lecture on that =
controversial issue to his students.

Rabbi Shmuley commented, "Mike Brown and I have gone real hard after =
each other in several public debates. But amazingly, through all these =
exchanges we have become friends, and it is a friendship that I value. =
He is brave indeed to have invited me to address his students about why =
they should spread Christianity only among Christians and never among =
Jews. After all, my message to his students goes against everything he =
is trying to teach them.=20

"I am a well known defender and admirer of evangelical Christians and =
feel greatly inspired by their sincere committment to a G-dly life and =
their love for America. But I object strongly to any efforts whatsoever =
to convert Jews to Christianity. I will be telling Mike's students why =
Jews must find G-d through their own Jewish heritage, just as Christians =
find G-d through their traditions. I respect Mike's courage for giving =
me this opportunity of sharing with his students the Jewish communities =
strong abhorrence of missionary efforts against Jews, and I am very =
grateful for his friendship, even as we continue to argue heatedly over =
this most important issue."

Rabbi Shmuley is currently working on a book exploring the Jewishness of =
Jesus.
Could this be the one you meant, Tal? Or Henny?

The one I am thinking about took place on Sid Roth's show. I'm sure S_T is right and I was just mistaken about which rabbi it was...it was quite awhile back that I heard it.
