Hello everybody,
What is your favorite Bible story? I have 3 favorites. The first one is the parable of the one lost sheep. My second is where Jesus walks on water. My third is where Jesus heals the crippled woman on the sabbath. There are many other stories from the Bible that I love, but I really love those three. So, what are your favorites?

PS -- Yes, the story of Jesus rising from the grave is an awesome Bible story, but that is a given :)

One of my favorites is a story how Job's friends come to comfort him and when they see how much Job suffers they sit 7 days in silence. (Job 2:11-13) If I had such friends I'd be blessed and if I was able to be such a friend to someone it would be a great gift to me.

I like the story of the prophet of God vs. the prophets of some false god. All the others did all sorts of things to try to light their sacrifice on fire, but they tried all day and it wouldn't light. Then the prophet of God drenched his in water, prayed ofr a bit, and the whole thing burned without anyone physically lighting it.

Call me strange, but I have always liked the story of Jael. It is a great one to get kids looking into their Bibles to really see what is in there.

I think mine would be the story of Joseph.

I LOVE that one!! Elijah ragged on them too while they were doing it. "Maybe your god is asleep. Perhaps if you are louder you might wake him." That's paraphrasing but he really gave it to them good.
My favorite one though is David and Goliath. I can almost see it. Here's David, a little boy with a lot of faith astounded that these soldiers of the Living God are cowering while some heathen mocks God. Then he grows angry and says if you won't stop this heathen dog from mocking the God of Israel, I will. Then armed with only his faith and sling, he confidently marches down into the valley and pops Goliath upside the head. "I'm sorry, what was that you said about my God? Yeah, that's what I thought."
That always gives me a charge. Also is when Jesus calmed the storm on the boat. "Peace, be still." And they were sore afraid. Yeah, I guess so. It's hard to imagine what it would be like to see a man say those words and a raging storm is just...gone. What kind of man is this indeed.

wow, I'm surprised how many favorite stories are in the OT.
