There is little written about Michael the acheangel in the Bible, but he seems to hold a very important role. I would like to hear from any who have studied on him from a Judaic/Talmudic POV.
Particularly I would like a "proper translation" of Daniel chapter 12, verse 1 and 2
I am interested in Hebraic thought of what "stand up" and "stands for the people" means. Sounds almost like a banner, but more than that a protection.
We also hear about him in an esoteric way in the book of Judah, where we see that the body of Moshe ( and where it is to go I assume) is a bone of contention between HaSatan and Michael.
We know of Gabriel, who is called upon to help Daniel understand a vision, and also this same angel is the one who visits Miriam. That is the only references.
But Michael, the first time this name appears, it is a son of Sethur, from the tribe of Asher.
Michael is also the leader of the angels in heaven that fight and toss out Hasatan and his angels in the end of times.
So is this a human? Or angel, nu?

Hmm, no takers? OK, I will study alone, kinda like a study journal, now no one participate mind you! ;)
OK, lets see, Where does Michael first appear?
Mika'el ~ Mem, yod, kaf, alef, lamed --meaning (according to Strongs) "Who is like G-d"
Now is this a question-----------"Who is like G-d?"
or a statement------------------"Who is like G-d" ?
The 'Me Chamoecha' asks this from Exodus 15 Me Chamoecha Baaylim Adonai? Who is like you O L-RD among the gods?
But could this means "One who is like G-d" ???
Who is named Michael?
one of, the chief, or the first archangel who is described as the one who stands in time of conflict for the children of Israel
an Asherite, father of Sethur, one of the 12 spies of Israel
one of the Gadites who settled in the land of Bashan
another Gadite, ancestor of Abihail
a Gershonite Levite, ancestor of Asaph
one of the 5 sons of Izrahiah of the tribe of Issachar
a Benjamite of the sons of Beriah
one of the captains from Manasseh who joined David at Ziklag
father or ancestor of Omri, chief of the tribe of Issachar in the reign of David
one of the sons of Jehoshaphat who were murdered by their elder brother, Jehoram ( from the tribe of Judah)
father or ancestor of Zebadiah, of the sons of Shephatiah
In seven of the tribes this name appears in ancestory.
Who is left out:
Reuben
Ephraim
Dan
Naphtali
Simeon
Zebulan

Da 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Da 10:21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
Da 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Three differing titles here:
1. One of the chief Princes
2. Your Prince
3. The Great Prince who stands for the children of Daniels people ( Israel)
So who is speaking?
After Daniel has fasted for three full weeks – 21 days (and all through Pesache) he had a vision standing by the Tigress River. He sees someone he refers to as a certain man (The Hebrew says "Ish echad" but is translated "certain man".)- but who doesn't sound human at all by his attributes:
1. clothed in linen
2 .loins were girded with fine gold
3. body also was like the beryl
4. face as the appearance of lightning,
5. eyes as lamps of fire,
6. arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass,
7. voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
Now where else is a man described such as this?
1:10
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
1:11
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
1:12
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
1:13
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. (#2)
1:14
* His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; (5)
1:15
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;(6) and his voice as the sound of many waters. (7)
1:16
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. (4)
1:17
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
But who is the first and last?
Rev 1:8
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is (5752) , and which was (5713) , and which is to come (5740), the Almighty.
Hmm........ The men that are with Daniel did not see anything but perceived that someone was there and the greatness thereof and fled to hide themselves in shame or fear?
Daniel loses his strength and turns pale falls down face first into a dead faint but can hear the voice in his faint. Then he says a hand touched him and set him up in a kneeling postion and tells him to understand what he is saying and to stand upright, for he specifically "was sent" to him. He called him a man greatly loved....’beloved’. Daniel stands to his feet still trembling.
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; (5)
Daniel describes one as having a garment white as snow and hair of his head like pure wool in chapter 7.

I wonder if Michael is also the "fit man" on the Day of Atonement who is able to take the scapegoat out to the wilderness or as Revelation says "bottomless pit".
