I'm looking for good websites that will give reliable information about the pagan influences on the traditional American holidays (Christmas, Easter, Halloween). I'm trying to arm myself with reliable information for teaching my husband and my family, as well as to use whenever other people question why we celebrate the biblical holidays instead. Obviously, I don't want to present the information in a condemning sort of way, but rather in an instructional manner.

I'm doing a web search right now, but was hoping some of you would have some good sites bookmarked. A lot of sites on the web search are so divisive and destructive, as well as not always based on fact and reliable research. Do you have any suggestions on where to send people to sites that aren't so offensive?

Thanks!

I like Encarta... ;)

Easter: http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761568507_1____2/Easter.html#s2
Halloween: http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761572079_1____9/Halloween.html#s9

......It's a good starting point anyway!

Thank you! Those articles do have good information, and it's presented in a neutral, informative tone. It didn't seem to be completely consistent with some of the other things I've read, but it was close enough to get the point across, as well as being thorough enough without being too long-winded. I've already bookmarked them!

Thanks again,

The History channel is definately not neutral! Please! I use them as a test of what is being used to brainwash the masses as far as Judaism, The Holocaust, Jesus and religion.

Here is a starter page you may want to read and share, they also have info on the feast days http://biblicalholidays.com/Excerpts/hebrew_roots.htm

And then this http://biblicalholidays.com/Excerpts/What%20happened.htm ( What happened to the holidays? It explains the journey from G-ds holy days to church holidays.

There are some who love so much that they will celebrate not only their wedding date, but the day they met, their first date, their one month anniversary, the first time they danced, their first dinner, etc, because each thing is a momentous trip to the big event. Others don't think it neccesary, but just do the weddding anniversary, so even forget that. ;)

Thanks, Zayit! Actually, I have the book Biblical Holidays and was studying it last night. I'm glad to know, though, that I can just give people a web site so they don't have to buy the book to get the intro material.

I'm one of these people! My husband dreads the question, "Guess what today is?" LOL! He always feels bad that he doesn't remember all the special dates like I do!

It shows where you heart is, I was trying to make a correlation between those that are in the church and happy to celebrate the churches holidays as opposed to those who love the L-rD immensely and even though they weren't brought up knowing about the feasts of the L-rD they are attracted to them and want to celebrate them to learn more about their love, and his great plan of salvation for mankind, and his great love. Many think it is all wrapped up in Easter, but fail to see the steps leading up to it, nor that it actually starts with Passover, and ends with Sukkot. Many have no idea when they celebrate Thanksgiving for example that this was directly taken from Sukkot by the Pilgrims.

Each year we need to go through the rehersal, and remembrance , because the L-rD commands it so we remember and also we lift Him up in his creation and redeeption plan and magnify that as well as Him. It's like being happy and content with a picture of a loved one instead of the real thing. :)
