Newbie on this list. Have been lurking for a couple of weeks, decided to finally register. Originally was baptized and chrismated into a small ROCOR mission in Lubbock TX, which later was received by Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver into the GOA along with another ROCOR parish in San Angleo TX (now St. Athanasios The Great Greek Orthodox Church) after both priests had met with Elder Ephriam and Fr. Dositheos at the Monastery of the Holy Archangels in Kendalia TX (long story). Our small parish was eventually dissolved and merged with the already existing GOA parish in Lubbock. Our former priest now serves a GOA parish in Amarillo TX. The San Angelo parish is still very active and is allowed to use the OLd Calendar.

I am now living and working in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, attending the Divine Liturgy at a small OCA parish in Plano, TX, St. Sava's and Vespers at St. Seraphims Orthodox Cathedral in Dallas TX (and occasionally at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas).

Kyril,

Great to have you here. We (my family) are about to move to Lubbock and would love to hear about the Church there. For some time, we attended the Greek Church in San Angelo (Assumption of Mary...closest parish to us) but had to stop the 200+ mile round trip due to the expense. Never did visit the other church in San Angelo (St. Athanasios), but have visited their web site and have seen the pictures of the Church they built.

We are so looking forward to finally living in a city where there is an established parish to become active in. I have visited Holy Trinity in Dallas (when visiting family) many times over the past few years...it is beautiful.

I ask for all of your prayers as we make this rapid move to Lubbock.

In the love of our Saviour,

Alfred

Welcome Kyril.

It seems as if a good many of the Orthodox folk on these boards live in the South and/or Texas (I know a lot of you Texans consider Texas its own thing, neither southern nor western, just making an observation!)

Sorry, I registered for this forum after lurking here for awhile and thought I would have time this week to participate, and then was swamped with more work than I anticipated. Oh well.

Sorry about posting my e-mail and not realizing it is against the rules. Please forgive.

Alfred, I think you will like the Lubbock church, St. Andrews. It is located on 82nd St. Not too big and not real small either. I actually was hardly ever very active there, due to the drive distance, and after only a few months I moved even further away. As to Holy Trinity in Dallas, I am planning on attending the liturgy there this coming Sunday.
