Apparently following in the footsteps of his predecessors, Kerry has come out in favor of Kosovo's independence and the strengthening of Albania according to this press release (http://news.findlaw.com/scripts/printer_friendly.pl?page=/prnewswire/20040730/30jul2004192733.html).
Some background on what an independent Kosovo will be like for the Serbs and Roma is in this article - Clinton, Kerry and Kosovo The Lie of a "Good War" (http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/JOH406A.html).

 I can't say I'm surprised. It seems that neither candidate is concerned for the Christians being slaughtered over there, although both claim to be Christians themselves.

Kind of like how Evangelicals insist on supporting Israel even though our Christian brothers and sisters are being killed or left homeless by the Israelis.

Amen to that. No AMerican president has done the "right thing" where Kosovo is concerned. The continued sucking up to radical Albanian Muslims is pathetic. This is truly a bipartisan snafu.
Just had to vent,
Eusebios.

It doesn't make any sense. I told my friends that we were on the wrong side in Yugoslavia, and told them about the history of Serbia and the Turks and all of that, and it went in one ear and out the other.

Purposely? And if so, do you feel that Christians would be treated any better under Muslim rule?
Not debating; just asking. Honest. :)

It is quite sad how our government ignores these types of situations. It took years for oru government to acknowledge the slaughter going on in the Sudan by radical Arab Muslims and now both the U.N and the U.S. are just getting around to doing something about it.

Not debating; just asking. Honest. :)Christians survived under Muslim rule for over a 1000 years in Palestine, now since 1948 and 1967 when the Zionist state took over the West Bank, Palestinian Christians have been fleeing, becoming exciles from the land of their fathers and mothers. The Christian population has really dropped. What Islam could not do, Zionism is doing and that is if the tend continues there will be no Christians left in the land where Christianity started.

So true JTF, and yet so ignored here in the West. I have an acquaintance who lives in Ramallah (home of Yassar Arafat). She is Khouria Maria Khoury, a Greek born, US educated wife of an Arab Orthodox priest. She regularly states that they exist quite well with their Muslim neighbors who often outnumber Orthodox Christians at Wednesday Vespers. She clearly prefers their rule to the Zionists.
His unworthy servant,
Eusebios.

It is a fact that the number of Christians in the Holy Land have gone down dramatically since 1948. For the Evangelicals, all that matters is bringing about their interpretation of the biblical verses on the End Times. The fact is that much of Orthodoxy has been under the yolk of the moslems for much of their history, over 1000 years, and they were not able to eradicate Christianity. However, they are finally being eradicated out of the Holy Land now, by the Zionists. I'm sure that at least a small remnant will remain because Jesus promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church, but it makes me sick that the Zionists are being supported by Christians who don't care that their Christian brothers and sisters are being persecuted by those they are backing--all in an effort to bring about the Rapture.

Duel, No. 15 (106), April 1999
Translated from the Russian
(In the Brussels headquarters of NATO. A distinct smell of sulphur is present.)
Solana: S.O.S.! Fire! Serbian terrorist diversion! Help!
General Clark: Sound the alarm! Fire alarm! Order the immediate takeoff af all Stealth Invisible Bomber squadrons! Why invisible? Because Serbian intrigues are also invisible. We know, because we're the ones who made them up! But the fires after our peacekeeping operation are very real indeed! Help!
A hairy gentleman with goat's hooves, a tail and a horn appears.
Devil: Hello, Javier! Hi Wesley! Or rather, Heil!
General Clark: Hey, what's with the heil-fellow-well-met attitude? For that kind of brazenness I could have one of those horns broken!
Solana: Sorry, didn't recognize you. You're who? A messenger from the White House?
Devil: A messenger! Do I look like a messenger? Don't you see that I'm the Devil, Satan himself?!
Solana: You must be joking. And this is no time for practical jokes! One could say that our nerves are stretched to the limit here: We're engaging in an unsanctioned military operation against a sovereign government! So I ask you: Pleeease don't distract us, and leave the premises immediately! Guard!
General Clark: As a military man, I'm not going to beat around the bush: Get out!
Devil (beside himself with amusement. Laughs demonically): That's what I love about you scoundrels! Insolent, dense, and self-confident! You're my men to the marrow! You're going to have a hard time getting rid of me from now on. In fact, you're going to have an impossible time... I'm just going to have to take you along with me, when I return home, to Hell!
Solana (suddenly becoming timid): Strange sense of humor you have! And your tail's strange, too. And I guess your spouse made you wear those horns?
General Clark: Sorry, I'm all tied up at the moment. Can't go to Hell until we get the reconnaissance results back. By the way, give me your coordinates, and I'll send a spy plane there to check it out. And then a Ranger Division, for a preliminary sweep of the territory.
Devil: I look at you, Wesley, and think to myself: "He's just a punk's punk, a fascistic nonentity, but what strategic genius hides behind that pale, sourish mug!"
General Clark (very much flattered): Oh, yes! This is my historic contribution to the art of war! To fire with high-precision weaponry at civilian objects ... or just at plain civilians! For the kindergarten--a laser-guided bomb. For the hospital--a cruise missile! Millions and millions of dollars ... to cripple a pregnant woman or a frail senior citizen!
Solana: And all of this, please note, is for the highest humanitarian purposes! In the name of human rights.
Devil: Whose human rights? That sucked-dry Willy's?
Solana (taken aback): Tsk! Why of all the cheek! You truly are an infernal creature! To speak with such lack of respect of the acknowledged leader of the gendarme civilizator of the apocalyptically christianizatoring oligarchic democratizators ... (gets confused at this point and his political spectacles fall from his nose).
Devil: What a lot of rot you're babbling! What, you think I don't know that pervert? He's also one of my men! You can't name a commandment that he hasn't broken! He adulterizes, and kills, and bears false witness, and makes an idol of the Golden Calf! His life is a living illustration of one obvious truth: Capitalism ... is a perverted form of social organization, which can't triumph for even a day without lies!
General Clark: I categorically disagree! We--both the army and the administration--are proudly carrying the flag of frivolous amorality, that is, sorry, Pharisaic morality, er ... damn, I've gotten it wrong again! Well, in short, I'll tell it to you straight, like a soldier: We the command, after praying to the Almighty, give our orders, and the airmen, following the commandment "Thou shalt not kill", carpet-bomb residential blocks with true Christian charity. Those who fail to understand that simply lose their reason, of course. Only not us: we haven't even an iota of reason to lose, and no minds to lose either for that matter!
Devil: Oh, I'm liking you rascals more and more! Barbarians--and armed with ultra-powerful weapons! Keep going, and you'll do in the whole world! What a joy for me, when you finally incinerate the planet! No, I'll just have to make you a part of my suite without delay!
General Clark: If that means a promotion, then I'm all for it! Only wait till I'm finished redrawing the map of Europe.
Solana: Yes, yes. We want to give traditional Slavic lands to drug-dealers and extremists. And they, I hope, will begin to create mayhem with a human face.
Devil: With whose human face? An unshaven snout like yours, for example? Oh you break me up, you degenerate! You mean they'll all have that ape-like grimace, that skunk-like smelliness? I can imagine it now... I'm in approval, and hire you for underworld duty immediately!
Madame Albright (just arrived at headquarters): Who's hiring whom? What underworld? Explain to me this instant, in diplomatic language, what that hairy Sir with the be-tailed hindquarters is doing here, at headquarters. What does he want?
Solana: Errr... Hmmm... That goat-like gentleman, you see, has just given us high marks for our peacekeeping bomb-throwing...
General Clark: He also looks very favorably upon our plans for world domination.
Madame Albright: Oh, that's very nice! Finally someone in this ungrateful world is giving us some moral support!
Devil: Oh, you're just to my taste, my enchantress! Absolutely without womanliness. A complete political machine! Mine! Forever!
Madame Albright: Oh at last someone loves me! And I was beginning to have doubts. You see, if a person is loved by no one, that must mean that he's acting for the worse of humanity!
Devil: For the worse, my little nighthawk, for the worse! That's exactly why I adore you! Let me embrace you all, my beautiful freaks! And we'll unite in ecstasy and fly away to Tartarus! By the way, only there will you be safe from revenge from now on!
Smoke, sparks. The air trembles from demagogical nonsense. All go hurtling into the underworld.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me, although I'm at a loss to understand where you got some of this information, I do appreciate your caring heart and I do respect you very much.
I'm just going to mention that I met a large number of Christian Arabs living prosperously in Jerusalem herself when I was there in 1972, and that things are not going at all well for Iraq's Christians, who are being killed by Muslims.
Now, I will respectfully take my leave because of a later post (certainly not yours!) which seemed a bit over the line to me. I'd rather not read any further, but I'd like to thank you again, Katherine, for taking the time and effort to share your perspective with me. :)

I've certainly read a lot in The Word (the official magazine of the Antiochian diocese) about the horrendous treatment of the Christians in Palestine by the Greek Patriarchy. The last Archbishop was stiffing the palestinians badly, and selling a lot of church property out from under them to Israel, and refusing to allow any Arab clergy, only Greek. They seemed to blame the Greek heirarchy more for the decline in Christians there than the "Zionists". (Not to mention how it was palestinian muslims that desecrated the Church of the Nativity so badly.)
I haven't heard much about the new fellow there now, hopefully things are better.

I can't recall a president I've actually liked, through research or general knowledge. The best was probably Kennedy IMHO, which is why the CIA killed him.
I do like Kerry's beliefs on certain things though.
