The 4 Gospel

Goodmorning to all of you.. Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum:) I have a questions about the gospels..1st question.. What are this Gospels? and why does Mark,Luke,Matthew and John are the chosen people that became the 4 Gospel and play a big role in the bible? what are basis for them that is they became the 4 Gospel I am wondering about that Please help me..I want to know why..:idea:

Here's an answer outside the norm.

The four gospels correspond to the four colored veil of the tabernacle.

Exd 38:18 (http://cf.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Exd&c=38&v=18&t=KJV#18)And the hanging for the gate of the court [was] needlework, [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: and twenty cubits [was] the length, and the height in the breadth [was] five cubits, answerable to the hangings of the court.

The guards placed a robe of four colors on Jesus after the trial. Mt. scarlet (scarlet), Mark purple (purple), Luke gorgeous (white/linen), John purplish (violet-blue).

That's pushing it a bit isn't it? Ireneus (bishop of Lyon c 170CE) argued the 4 gospels reflected the 4 winds but he was then defending the 4 gospels against a lot of others that he though gnostic

Well they are called the Gospels is because that was the days of Jesus. They ate, sleep, and talked to/with Jesus.

If you look up the word gospel on dictionary.com here is the answer it gives you: the teachings of Jesus and the apostles; the Christian revelation.

Basicly they are the times of Jesus and his story by some of God's chosen people to write about him.
