I dont think its a big deal but it bugs me, why do some christians bleep out Gods name in their posts, does this mean something
for example
G-d
or
G*d
I cannot seem to figure it out for the life of me. want to hear what you guys say about this ;)

Hmm, I've seen the G-d too, maybe it is just some "hip" way of writing God? Like some people write plz instead of please and K instead of OK.

I've seen it more often from other religions, I think it's an attempt to prevent taking His name in vain, but I'm unsure how it extends to the English word.

It is mainly used by Jews and messianic Jews.. it's a sign or respect.
They also use L-rd in the same way...
I believe that it is traditional to write the name of God in Hebrew without the vowels, so this is a way of translating that:)
A poor attempt at explanation, apologies to any who practice this!

Many people especially those who are either messianic christians or jewish believers will do that out of deep reverence for the name of God and His holiness and also to keep from literally taking His name in vain in any way.

a jewish friend of mine says that if he were to write the word God down on paper he isexpected to dispose of it in the most respectful manner possible. I forget if the ceremony involves a burrial, or a burning of the paper but he told me since electronic information can't be disposed of according to his tradition he was taught to type G-d instead to avoid any disrespect to the holiness of the name.

Thanks for your reply paperneck, i looked briefly on the situation. Im interested in hearing where in the bible they got this from (I could be wrong of coarse), I mean we all know not to take the Lords name in vain but this whole thing sounds like another manmade tradition  No offense to the Jews of coarse, I say this because back than they created and twisted Gods Word and created their "own" laws and traditions oftentimes. as alot of us do now..
Nonetheless At least the whole idea is good that they dont want to take Gods name in vain:thumbsup:
