Thanks for the invitation Philothei! :) Unfortunately I wont have much time to spend here, tomorrow I have to prepare for Sunday, when I'm going to Rome!:priest:

So why am I making this thread? Well, I hope my new username doesn't anger you like the former one. Speaking of crusaders, that's exactly what you need down in Eastern Croatia aka. Bosnia. I realize this is a sensitive subject, but we have a Croatian in my parish who can tell that those muslims (who are all half-Turkish/half-Albanian Croatians and no ethnicity) aren't exactly fluffy bunnies. I feel a bit sad for the former president of the Republica Srpska, he might be a murderer guilty of genocide against Croatians but those US puppets at Haag are not going to judge just judgment, and the breakup of Yugoslavia was caused another unjust war by American capitalism. Some of you seem to hope that Russia can save Europe and the world from American domination, if this is the case I really hope so since anything would be better than American world-domination. :|

God bless you all!:crossrc:

Uh....Ok. I'm sure there are other countries you could say that about, too. Although, I don't think America is dominating the world...so...

Have you heard anything about Turkey joining the ECC? No? The West seem to have abandoned the idea, thanks to Turkey's controlled democracy, whenever that's a good thing or not. If the Turkish supreme court had outlawed the Justice and Development Party last week, their plans for the ECC would definitely be over.

And BTW are you catholic now? Sorry do dissapoint you. :( Hmm... I don't know if you would classify me as that yet. I have done the course "katolska kyrkans lära och liv" translated to something like "[the] Catholic church's teachings and life" and I am now going to (forgive me for my any misunderstanding because of language issues here) go with the catecumenats (how do you spell it in English?) as a candidate.

I am not ready for communion yet, and I am not in communion with the Bishop of Rome yet, but I have been told that I may call myself a catholic to make things less-complicated for non-christians, however the priest who told me that also said that others may disapprove of this. Your catecumenants do not seem to want to call themselves orthodox. I wear the catholic icon since the Christian icon caused so many problems (people thought that I where from a "non denominational" protestant denomination) although it is not ideal. The liberal OBOB-members, our friends in Christ :priest: who should face trial for heresy  (I often feel divided like this :sigh:) has threatened me with greater respect since then, or perhaps less disrespect. You TAW-members seem so much wiser than some of my catholic friends from the OBOB, this forum is less like General Theology and more like a church. :)

God bless!

When I was in the process of joining the Orthodox Church (after having previously been a RC convert) I commented to my priest that I couldn't say I was Orthodox yet because I hadn't been Chrismated yet. I actually was admonished and told that being Orthodox had nothing to do with what rites I had gone through. I know many Orthodox catechumen don't like to refer to themselves as Orthodox yet, but at least my priest made it very clear that my believing the teachings of Orthodoxy and where my heart was was what made me Orthodox, not the rites.

He told me I was showing my legalistic Roman Catholic background. Go figure!

I am glad you came to share some European news..with us. Hey, thanks :)

About the Catholic catechumanate I will not say that I am not dissapointed in you chosing RC...I am ... Yet, it is your choice and I respect it. I also will not comment about OBOB and the Liberal caths... not any of my buisness any how... I am totally though happy that you feel comfortable here at TAW. I am personally glad you came for a visit....

Hope you stay

P.S. I know that Turkey is in big trouble... We have to pray for our Patriachate as it is in danger.... :(

This is very worrying. One wonders if the Patriarchate might be able to negotiate something resembling the Lateran Accords of 1929 or the status of Mt. Athos within Greece... The Phanar must be a visible and viable instrument of unity for you Orthodox brethren if reunion is ever to be achieved. :)

i'm sorry if this is a little out of place but what's wrong with Turkey? (there is a personal reason for my asking this)

There is persecution of Christians going on in Turkey. The Ecumenical patriarch, one of the Orthodox Patriarchs, is in Turkey and receives death threats on an almost daily basis and his compound is attacked from time to time. For the most part, the Turkish Gov. tries to protect it but sometimes turns a blind eye.

You all are making me nervous (it was bad enough with the bombs in the news) about Turkey. We're going there on a pilgrimage in late October. http://209.85.12.227/html/emoticons/unsure.gif
