Am I the only new Christian here who wears a headcovering? (Well, I don't wear it yet, but I will as soon as I make it) I'm just curious cause I'd like to meet other women who do.
God bless,
RaeAnne

do you plan to sew one or knit or crochet one? do you have a pattern?
are you meeting with a group where all the women wear headcoverings?
what are your reasons for having one?
i have been a Christian for about 17 years and have never worn one.
some of the women who meet with my church do, but most do not.
i am not sure that I understand the reasons for it and I do not feel convicted to wear one, so i don't.
i was raised in reform judaism where we were told to do lots of stuff just because it was tradition and were never given any reasons for it and that (and my rebellious nature probably) has left me opposed to doing anything just for the sake of doing it without either understanding the reason for it and/or being convicted by the Lord to do so.

Can I please ask a question (or two ;))

Is the head covering you mention sort of like a mantilla, and do you wear it all the time or just in church?

There's a thread in the christian philosophy and etics part of the forum that is about whiter or not christian woman should use head covering or not, maybe you find some useful info there. LINK

Welcome! There are people in Semper Reformanda (http://christianforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=366) and Conservative Christians (http://christianforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=791) both, though it's a minority of people who do I don't think you'll get much flak from people over looking for others like-minded.

Hi sis.
I wear a headcovering in church meetings and any situation involving public prayer.
I have sometimes considered wearing it all the time, but am not convinced that this is scripturally necessary..
I am glad that you are following your convictions, sister. never forget though, that outward signs are not what is most important.. our love of God is what really matters. Anything we do o demonstrate that is a blessing to Him. :)

I sewed one using a pattern I saw in my mind. I just cut out a pattern from my fabric, pinned it together, and that was it. There are patterns available, though.

The verses are in 1 Corinthians 11. I wasn't sure whether or not I should, because I was told it was only for the Corinthians, but I don't believe that is true. Anyway, I do it because God told me specifically that I have to in order to demonstrate my obedience to Him. Which is why the Corinthian women were told to cover.

I'm Southern Baptist, so I don't know many women within the denomination who cover at all. I don't do it for anyone but God.

It is kinda like a bandanna with the back sewn shut and ties coming down and then tied at the base of my neck. That way it covers most of my hair.

I cover all of the time. Hubby thought I'd wear it everywhere but to church. lol I guess since I'd be alone he thought I'd be uncomfortable.

Thanks for answering my question. If you feel that God has lead you to wear a covering, then you must do so.

What does Paul's thought from 1 Corinthians 11 speak to you?

1 Cor. 11:15
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
