Hey guys...

This is "The poster". Thank you so much for your input so far. :) You've all been very very helpful. Count on seeing me around here more often. ;) (And this is by no means an attempt by myself to cap off the discussion.)

I'm glad we didn't scare you off! Where is the "WHEW" icon to display? ;)

We can get pretty brutal, we also have lots of fun in here and there are so many knowledgeable people whose postings I love to read!

I welcome swarms.

I would ask that you would pray for me as I am doing this. My discouragement seems to be flooding into other areas of my life, and there is a certain heaviness and sorrow associated with this, even though this is such a joyful time of exploration and people (viewers like you ;) ) have been so encouraging in your replies.

I am wanting to say something of it over the weekend. Thank you for your prayers, caring, and great comments. The body of Christ is a beautiful thing because it works together to help its members who are hurting or "cut".

Praise God for his faithfulness, for the brightening of my eyes with His joy, for friends to pray for me and encourage me and to make me laugh when I don't even want to smile, and for His peace that touches me as I attempt sleep. God is faithful and His grace is magnificent, even when we are unfaithful. In our unfaithfulness, God is mighty and holy. There is none like Him.

Hello and welcome DeepGreen

I read thru most of your posts in the other forum. I guess I can understand your dilema somewhat. I have a pretty strong personality and I remember when my son was growing up I was just a little too domineering :sorry:

When a parent loves their kids its hard to let them make their own decisions when you feel its a mistake, but in matters of faith you are responcible to God by yourself. Your mother won't answer to God for you, so your looking into a conservative scripture based church is the right thing to do. By all means keep reading your bible, and if I may suggest try the NIV. Reading from the old KJV is somewhat confusing as their speech is not what we use.

I am a WELS Lutheran which is the Wisconsin synod. There are a few WELS churches in your area. Here is a church locater with a listing of all WELS churches in your area. http://wels.locatorsearch.com/searchresults.aspx

One of our members here, PreachersWife2004 is not only a member of the 3rd listing , Mount Olive, but her husband is the Pastor for that church

I came into the WELS church when I was 8 years old.. Just the perfect time as I was at an age that I could learn about my Savior and God, and understand and remember it. At about 13 years of age I started instruction at my church to become an adult member with the proper training and instruction to recieve Holy Communion. I've now been a member there for 52 years

Upon occasion I've visited a few other churches when attending weddings or funerals. The big thing I find at other churches is how much their sermons are lacking in real scriptural teaching. You leave the service feeling empty, as though you were not fed with God's word. The bible teaches us that feeding our souls and our faith is more important then feeding our stomach. To be sure God will be very happy with your decison to look into a conservative Lutheran chuch where He can teach you all His word. :preach:

:)!!!

I really enjoyed that service! It was COMPLETELY traditional...very cool. Of course, I didn't take communion, but I'm not supposed to! They took really good care of me and took me under their wing, making sure I had tons of info. The service itself I enjoyed a lot too. I am so hungry for knowledge right now it's crazy. :) the intro to my blog most accurately describes what's going on. :)

I went to a different non-denominational church today too, and I can say that that service was also excellent. They seem to be much truer to the scriptures and the concept of God's grace than my current non-denom. I can say that if I choose to stay in a non-denominational church, I have somewhere excellent to go...but I'm still studying all this stuff, so it's definitely going to take more time if I do go over to Lutheran churches. It has to be long term, and you all know why.

I can say that I'm a lot more at peace now than I was before. For this, I am thankful. God is so faithful and so good. We could yammer for the rest of our lives and our eternal lives (like I am in this post :sorry:) and it would never amount to a fraction of a second of the time of praise God deserves, just because He is God! Sola Deo Gloria!
