I noticed he mentioned nothing of the frik Kippah, or maybe I am just tired from working last night.

Now we need the feminists to demand equal time, and explain
all the various ways woman can cover their hair, and meaning
behind it all, LOL.

Would a truly feminist woman be caught dead in tichels or shaitels ?

Well you see there's the scarf or hat and wig at an orthodox shul...the LACE at a conservative shul...and in a reformed shul OY you don't even want to go there! ^_^ Dancing Miriams!

LOL!

I absolutely hate those little lace doily things-they look so silly
and do nothing to cover the hair, which is of course the whole
point to wearing something. ;)

can their be atrue feminist that doesn't follow tzunnis?

A woman who covers her hair and dresses modestly, is a princess. She knows she is worth something. Why is it that many feminists have good ideas when it comes to theworkplace, yet choose to parade around like they are only an object of s. desire.

Beautiful headcover!!
It is lovely!

What is their position on tallitot and wearing tzitzit?

They hold some liberal opinions, but do not require that women
agree with their positions.

They hold that a man can be yotzei by a woman's kiddush and hamotzi.

They hold women's tefillah groups, separated from the men, where some
do wear tallis and they do aliyot and the whole service as the men do.
Women's tefillah groups are acceptable by some rabbis and not by a lot
of them.

I've never heard of them wearing tefillin but I wouldn't be surprised to
hear if they did.

So needless to say they rely on very very liberal teshuvot.

This gives some information on their shabbat practices:

http://www.jofa.org/pdf/opt_Shabbat.pdf

I don't agree with them, and I imagine some women in the organization
hold more conservative opinions too...

Yet they think they have been "set free"......

Oh yes, we've all been set free--to be slaves to our passions.

Besides, feminists got it all wrong. Women are not equal to men. They are superior to men. HaShem created everything in ascending order. He created women last, and thus their spiritual essence is closer to HaShem. Why do women have so few Mitzvoth attached to their lives? because women don't need as many to be holy. Why do many shuls have the womens section in the balcony, or to the right as you enter the shul depending on construction? because women are more important. Why is it that Judaism goes through the mother and not the father? well you get the idea.

It is interesting that those clips are brought up in this thread, as the video points out that they are halachically controversial.

Yochanan

PS: I use them though. Even so, I have difficulties keeping the lubavitch style ones on. They are just a bit two small what with all my hair. I'm thinking about switching to a Bukhari style kippah as worn by Dr. Simcha Jacovichi of the Naken Archeologist on HIS-I.

true. If they are a shaved head and peyos kind of frummie, then that would not work.

Chava, the ones I've seen are really small. Of course I was wearing my own so it wasn't a big deal.

It should be pointed out that all the ones he was discussing are pretty much only ashkenazi.

Why not go with the Hollywood, 6-piece, crochet variety with the smiley faces, Torah? :P

 Maybe there needs to be a "Roger Daltrey hair" lubavitch black velvet one with 8 pieces! And by the way, don't use velcro in there or once a few pieces get stuck in it your hair will be a velcro NEST!

:D

Torah613

ack of course no velcro.

Personally I'm trying to decide between a frik kippah, or a bukhari style kippah.

They're exactly the same thing that Pentecostal Holiness ladies wear :D--in fact, I heard the conservative shul here gets theirs from the same source.

p.s. You know, I can tell the guy in the video is a bachelor......dirty dishes piled up in the sink and no curtains on the windows:o:o :D He needs a wife.
