View Full Version : The icons are back

The country and political party association icons are back - or where they allwhere there and I did not see them?

I am quite disappointed. I actually preferred the forum without the icons. Maybe it is only me, but seeing which country a poster is from or/and much more which political party (s)he supports, immediately brings up stereotypes in me and helps partisanship rather than Christian unity.

You ought to see some of the new smilies they have, hit the go advanced button and where the smailes are on the side, hit the more link. I didn't like a lot of them

I love your country. :)

Thanks Ed but actually I do not know anymore what "my country" is.

Anyway I was referring to the political party flags more than the country flags. Somehow I feel it is not appropriate on a forum called the "Christian forums" to add icons which immediately show which political party we support.

But it is not important. It is just my opionion which I felt a need to utter this morning cause I got really frustrated to see the icons again and be reminded of that unpleasant discussion about the Iraq war we had a while ago.

I mean there are so many things which divide us. Also as Christians. Now, there are doctrinal differences that divide and I feel that it is ok to point them out and bring them up for discussion. But there are also other differences like cultural, ideological ones and I feel they should not be pointed out. Just my thoughts. But as I said it is not important, ignore me.

The faith icons aren't back. We need them because we have people come in here misrepresenting themselves and interject unorthodox subjects in between the truth and it confuses not only the people here but visitors. It should be know that the heterodox is their own views and not Lutheran views.

Well, this is one of the options in one's profile that people choose to make visible.

There are so many other sub-forums here that this option is part of the program, I guess.

I'm glad however, that the system is getting back on it's feet.

Thanks,
Ed

They're showing up under the name, next to the country flag, with the rest of the icons. Maybe you need to clear your cache?

I redid all my choices and even re-entered "Lutheran" and it sill hasn't changed. I don't see you "denom" icon.

I really appreciate having the faith icons...

I find that it often helps to know the "perspective" of the poster (especially if it's one I'm not familiar with). For example, words often take on different connotations in different faith communities - "church/Church" for example means something different from a Catholic and a Baptist. Knowing where they are "coming from" helps to understand their post.

For those who don't want their nationality, etc. known - these can all be "turned off" by editing your profile.

Thank you for permitting me to post my fallible personal perspective....

I can't see any faith icons. I am not sure what it means to 'clear my cache' but I did delete my temp internet files and cookies, if that's what it means. Any other suggestions?

I see the flags, but not faith icons either and i think the onionhead smileys are creepy and do not seem to represent anything Christian at all and while I would like to have more smileys on here to show some different emotions, :nosepick::shutup: - these nosepicking and "shutup" smileys seem very wrong for a Christian board.

No faith icons yet. Must be another of the multiple glitches since the upgrade.

Can someone remind me why the "up"grade was necessary?

It has to be forum/server glitch because it happens to many people. At least it's functioning now.

Fibro brain fog here. :doh:I locked my own husband out of the house last night when he went over to our next door neighbor's to fix a leaky pipe. He came back and knocked on the door...and was like "why did you lock me out of the house?" I didn't have an answer, since I didn't even remember doing it. :sorry:

Well, I'm blonde, what's everyone else's excuse?

I need to sleep more. Sorry about the original post. I think my lack of sleep plus considerable external stress took a toll on me. I am feeling considerably better today. Nothing like a good night's sleep and a large cup of coffee. I just pray that I can be forgiven for my previous attitude.

seajoy

Me?

I am:

Ignorant.

Apathetic.

Still in a deep funk and feeling completely off balance and lost.
Don't call yourself bad stuff. I've spent my whole life doing that, and am learning that it's not what God wants us to do. Yes, we are sinners...but we have our Savior.

Does God go around saying "Toff is ignorant?" No, He says...."I love Toff...enough to die for him!"

I need to read what I just wrote. Good reminder for me too. :)

It sounds like you are in a bit of a depression. May be time to see your Pastor or a counsellor.

QuiltAngel

Prayers for you Tofferer. If you need to talk with someone, make sure you find someone you can. I DO know about that sleep deprivation thing. Had some of that going this week myself. Then you add the stress, not good for anyone's attitude.

Listen to seajoy too. She couldn't have said it better. When you are getting down and stressed, remember that God loves you, even when you may be messing up or things around you are a mess.
