I'm calling myself out! My favorite Mark Twain quote is "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." Well, I'm removing all doubt. I've been contemplating this a long time, did some miniscule research and came up with very little, so I'll ask those wiser than me.
What is the history of Israel? My poor understanding is that Israel was first a tribe. (Of 7 if I'm not mistaken) Then Israel became it's own state or country (not sure). Then it was distroyed. (Would this be the second temple?) Then in 1946ish(?) a gentile created what we know today as Israel to protect Jews from the genocides going on at the time. Am I on the right track?
My reasoning behind wanting to learn this is because I want to better understand who God intends to send the Messiah to? I mean no disrepect here and fully ask to be put in my place. But if today's Israel is essentially manmade, does God look on this as the Israel of the Bible? Or has "Israel" become a people instead, and not a place?
