The sharpest drops were between #1, #2 and #3, and starting at Mormon on down (#20) it suddenly goes to zero. The bar for Church of Christ was only 60% as large as the LCMS bar, with ELCA bar being right in the middle in size, while in the entire range from CoC to Seventh Day Adventist there is only a very gradual decline, with the SDA bar being 80% the size of the CoC bar.

Last night I took it and didn't post it anywhere, but Evangelical Lutheran Church was number one and Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod was number two. Methodist/Wesleyan Church was three. For some reason this morning, even trying to duplicate my answers, I can't seem to get the same answer. Ha.

My husband and I just took the test....both of us had Lutheran church Mo Synod as #1, and the cults at the bottom.....with everything else between. I figure we are in good shape. :thumbsup:

Until you gave your results I was starting to wonder if this wasn't a vast right-wing conspiracy to convince all Christians that they are really LCMS! I'm still in shock. I took it twice more over the course of two days and got essentially the same results, although everything below #2 shifted around each time.

I suspect there are a lot more options than meaningful results from this test, I took it imagining what an atheist would say, lots of strong disagreements with no preference on the fine points of infant baptism, and it came out only Anglican and Unitarian with 0% for everyone else. However, when I left everything blank and just chose strongly disagree for the first question "There is one God", it came out just Mormon and blank for everyone else.

There are always questions that I don't like in these tests and for this test in particular, the weird part was the importance rating, what on earth did that mean?The biggest objection I had was to the third question, "The Bible is free of error". I believe the Bible is spiritually infallible, but I do not believe that God was making any pretense of giving comprehensive economic, political or scientific advice, and that attempts to use the Bible in this fashion can never be free of error, because it was not how God intended the Bible to be used. My only options was to give a strong affirmation here, even though I doubt that most who answered the same would share my opinion here.

As to the importance rating, it is clearly a throw away in this case. I'll bet that everyone here slammed that thing all the way to the right to agree or disagree, and only left it in the middle when choosing No Preference. And once you select no preference the slider is meaningsless--if you leave everything at no preference you can fiddle with the sliders all you want but the results come up completely blank.

I just noticed something funny between our lists. Freewill Baptist scored #6 for you and #10 for me. Pardon my teasing, but you are closer to being a baptist than I am. Especially funny since I used to be a baptist (or at least I thought I was one, but I'm better now).

I find it interesting how close LCMS (including other conservative synods) and ELCA are in reflecting the core beliefs of TCL members in this forum ... and then there is the rest ... the more subtle points of theology.

I am not presenting this as bridge in order to include some of the most extreme views of some of the followers of the synods.
It is just an observation.

I seem to think of the ELCA and LCMS like northern and southern Israel when they split after the reign of Solomon. Even though the two people are separate, they are still God's chosen people and brothers that have united in most of their history. Their differences are more visible then they make them out to be.
