Does what others think of you/your religious practice matter to you?

If so why?

what difference does their belief/disbelief make?

What is the final situation you see that justifies arguing you are right and they are wrong besides division?

Just curious

Maybe I am missing something and need to grasp this desire for acceptance by everyone.

Dear ERM, if it were just me and my homies kickin' back, it would be a different matter. I have friends that I can share with and I do. But in relations with Christianity, it is a different matter. We got 'history' with Christianity. "History' which is not good. We got a major evangelic effort in the US and in Israel aimed at converting Jews funded and directed by a major Messianic organization, J4J. We got some real 'situations' on this broad in which we are being baited on a daily basis. So, the attitudes of others has a direct bearing on our lives.

Christianity is driven by the Great Commission. Just take a look at the various threads in CF. You would never find a missionary thread on any Jewish site. Heck, we are forbidden by our own religion to do such things. We feel under constant pressure. There is never anytime off from the continous assault of the Missionaries directed at us. Their 'belief/disbelief' is the energy/force/drive for their missionary activites. If they didn't believe that they have to save us, if they believed that 'normative [how I hate that term] Judaism did not sent people to the Christian Hell, if they disbelieved that all people have to be saved by Jesus, then all would be cool:cool: But their beliefs are not such, and so, the constant, never ending defensive mode of Jews. We don't ask to be 'accepted' so the missionaries would like us, we ask to be 'accepted' so the missionaries don't try to change/convert us.

Now I am not talking about you or many on this board. So, don't take what I am saying personally. It is not directed at you, but you brought it up, so I am using your invitation to address the issue. There are a lot of neat people on this board and I am a born teacher. I have the illusion that a true dialog can make all of us more tolerant. But, hey, that's just me.:P

I agree with kivi. It's not the beliefs that Christians have per se, but rather the demands of that faith to convert us to their beliefs. As has been stated more than once, I realise not all Christians fit this mold, but even if only 10% of all Christians did, that's over 110,000,000 missionaries.
