Let us pray for our beloved Church, against which even the gates of hell will not prevail, and let us pray that those who do these evil things to it will have their hearts turned from this evil.
In Christ,

Where have I been to miss all this? I do not recall hearing of any of this on the news. It should be front page news. :-(
Maybe I am at fault. All of Christendom, or any valuing freedom of religion should be in the streets. Demanding some action.
"The monastery is also known as the Monastery of the Cross, due to the presence of many beautifully decorated crosses inside its churches. The monastery, built in the 4th century, is considered one of the oldest monasteries of Christianity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity)."

Course all of you know of this.
"...screaming Allah Akbar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allah_Akbar)." -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monastery_of_Saint_Fana
That is from the religion of peace huh.
God bless those hurt, tortured, shot, humiliated, and maybe even dead as there were some critically hurt.

Dear Tigg,
I fear that nothing that might upset the Egyptian government is going to be said in the USA.
This is tragic, it is getting worse, and the world stands by and does nothing. I am tempted to say it is a shame there is no oil in Egypt, but I won't as it would be wrong of me; but it is so frustrating to see no one in power doing anything about this.
peace,
Anglian

No it isn't wrong of you to say it's a shame that there isn't oil in Egypt. Seems that is the coin of the realm to care about anything or one these days. The world, including the US, has become so twisted.
Think I will bring this to the attention of my reps. I will probably be a lone voice crying in the wilderness, but better to cry out, even if alone, than remain silent. Is there anywhere to go to donate to these monks or the monastery?
I wish God could stand between these haters of humanity and those monks and others who suffer hatred. I will say, it is a good thing I am not God.

Dear Tigg,
Bless you. I shall check to see if there is a relief fund yet.

In the aftermath of the barbaric attack on Deir Abu-Fana, the monks say they will only give up their rights…

Dear Tigg,
I am afraid this is what the Copts have lived with for centuries. What is worrying about this time is the increased frequency.

"Committee Resumes Work at Abu Fana Monastery, Monks Stage Sit-In"
dated June 25.08
"Bishop Demetrius yesterday told all monks to go early in the morning to the monastery that is 27 kilometers away from the city and Rev. Athnasius said security prevented people from giving their donations to the monastery and prevented bringing in any building material."
