Of course. He considers all His children even if they don't know it.
But when HE does it, HE does it perfectly. Humans cannot, and they should get out of the way and stop trying to do HIS job FOR Him.

I Cor. 5 tells us that God will correct or judge those on the outside of the Church, and that believers themselves are to judge certain behaviors of those who name the name of Christ so that a certain degree of purity can be maintained within the Body.

Of course he does. Wouldn't you spank your children if they misbehaved?

He chastises those He loves.

Would you take a sledge hammer to your child's back to teach her a lesson? Inflict your little boy with chronic ulcerative colitis as punishment for lying? Kill his pet puppy to teach him to love you more?

Neither would God. God is good. He is not abusive.

No doubt its a hard thing to discuss. I know God is a God of Love and that he Loves me and i Love God but i have great fear and great respect for God as well just by reading the examples of the punishment[or whatever the right word may be] he has put upon man. The curse of death upon all flesh all mankind because of the sin of two, this curse from God is responsible for disease and all kinds of death of the flesh, the first born of an entire nation killed in one night. whole cities distroyed in the blink of an eye, the whole earth and all mankind women, children everyone save Noah and his family destroyed. Praise the Lord God loves us enough to give us a way to overcome the curse of death, hell and the grave through His Son Jesus Christ. But when i read what God has done in the past and what will happen to those unwilling to turn to Christ in the future, i have HUGE RESPECT and FEAR for the Lord i have no problem with trying to be obident. Some times i am dumb founded at the lack of fear and respect shown to God by so many. Brother rod

Discipline has to do less with punishment and more with control.
God has many ways to wield control over His servants. AND make them like it.
AND He bes BETTER at it than Satan.

I think God chastens His children and sometimes it is painful. We may call it punishment, but scripture doesn’t. He chastens us BECAUSE He loves us.
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

I would rather defend to the death your right to say stupid stuff than to have to listen to it.

Hey Rod, HE has slapped me around the face many times in LOVE. And HE still does it. Many of us suffer unnecessary, because we are thick as a block of wood.

Be blessed, in Jesus' Name.

He does... but not always directly.
I recall where the OT talks about the land vomiting the people out of it because of the abominations they had committed. It is called the "just recompense of reward" and "reaping in the flesh the corruption that was sowed in the flesh."

I recall that the entire nation of Israel was denied entrance of the promise land because they sinned the sin of unbelief. They made an evil report and were said to have rebelled against God. This still happens today. Otherwise good Christians are judged because of their rebellion against His work and word. They deny His blood, his body, his lordship, and the things He has accomplished for us in Christ. For this they suffer greatly, both out of ignorance and because of unbelief.
So, yes... it happens.

:amen:I agree brother i know God corrects out of Love i hope i didnt sound like i meant anything else. God has backhanded me a time or two to say the least, He has gotten this block of woods attention many a time. I guess my point is even though i know God Loves me i also respect and Fear the Lord as well . i would be a fool not to with all the examples in the Bible;) Brother i think its those whos vanity and pride doesnt allow them to reconize error or a need to change who suffer unnecessary. Without Repentance our suffering may very well continue and may even greatly increase. Brother rod

A moral imperative has been built into the cause-and-effect fabric of reality itself, yes. Deuteronomy 28-30 makes this fact abundantly clear. He has hedged us behind and before, above and below, within and without and all about. (More powerful than a triangle inscribed with the Great Names! ^_^) And we should be very glad of it indeed.

Ah Rod, we are all a chip off the same block, as we Aussies say, but His Word is definite when it comes down to those who reject knowledge and understanding. As His Word says that we will perish.

We can confess and repent and forgive as much as we like, but if it doesn't come from the heart and is only words, then it's to no avail.

There are courses for horses, but you can't make them drink.:)

Be blessed in Jesus' Name.
