Hello,
I was looking at statistics today, and ever since the major changes, this forum has lost many members and viewers. Allow me to show some stats..

My question, is this.. Is anything being done to try and "revive" the forum, per se? I mean, this place is still active, but certainly not like it used to be. These statistics(courtesy of big-boards.com) shocked me.
I would suggest to bring back the old CF, but obviously I don't think this is the place for it, and I am sure many people have already done that. So, I am just wondering what are you guys perspective on this?
Oh, and another thing... are you guys going to bring back the tags that show like what religion/political affiliation/married or not/children etc? I really miss those, probably more than anything because it is just so confusing now.
also, are other layouts going to be available in the future? I think it would be cool if you guys could offer the old layout(like the green one) but that may be too much HTML coding to deal with for you guys!
So, I guess I am just asking these questions! Thanks!

The drop off in stats you are seeing is a function of some technical changes that occurred on the back end. For example, in the last 4 hours or so, we've had over 2000 unique members visit, and upwards of 10000 new posts. Once the back end fully propagates, the stats programs accuracy will return, but for now, its way off.... the same deal happened when we switched from CF to forums, but the stats accuracy has since recovered.
That being said, many of the old CF features will return, including the bling in the post bit. Its just taking a while.

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I was thinking it was a bit weird that so many people would leave just because of the changes! I knew something was a bit fishy.
It is great to know the "bling" will come back!

i really find this hard to believe. I have been on this forum for 4 yrs. It has been so DEAD since the change over it isn't even funny. EVERY forum i frequent has lost tons of regular posters. people are leaving in droves. If you look at Statistics the Blessings exchange used to be the BUSIEST place on CF...now its lost 80% of it members and i am not exaggerating. We really need the blessing icon back in the posts BADLY! We also need the bank fixed badly and the pets back. All these extras MISSING has sent alot of people away and i am really sad. i dont want to see CF go down the tubes. The BE is not the only Forum that is hurting and losing members. Those of us that post dont need to loook at a chart to know what has happened around here. I wish they would hire more techs and get this place functioning again.:prayer:

RTM....I couldn't have said it better. The site has gotten really quiet and many people have either taken a break from the site or have left.

The active user post counts are indeed down about 7% site wide.... but that doesn't explain the obvious drop off in specific forums.... and the internal stats I have access to do not provide for forum by forum active user analysis, so I can't comment on that from a numerical pov. New member registrations are still running about 100 or so a day. Once the software is complete, we do have plans in place to boost active membership, but for now the key is getting the prior unique feature sets back up and running.

I agree the BE threads were a hopping place before the upgrade. We could go thru a thread to 1000 posts within an hour without even trying, just chatting with one another. That is one of the things that I miss the most....all the people.

unfortunately we have lost even MORE members since this thread was first posted. are the higher ups going to acknowledge it? what is being done. This place is so dead. Its hard to find a thread to post on anymore. Some of us are trying to stay here and post and make this work..but its becoming harder and harder every day. Some communication and honesty would be appreciated.

I really don't know what caused the drop you so elegantly illustrated but I can tell you what turned me against CF and to other discussion boards but I have a guess. On July 7, 2007 Erwin decided to open Christian only discussion forums to anyone. The Creationism forum was inundated by secular skeptics who shamelessly ridiculed Christians for believing in a literal interpretation of Genesis and I say fundamentalists and evangelicals finally ran out of here by a moderation policy that was deeply biased against them.
The reason that this board is not getting the traffic it used to enjoy is that Christians are treated badly, it's as simple as that. It comes down to a simple decision and I am convinced that it was a bad one. Christian Forums has become Christian in name only and believers have moved on.
If the board wanted to do something to reverse the trend it could stop using the forums as chopping blocks for Christian conviction. I didn't break CF and honestly I don't know that if can be fixed but I might know what the problem is. Christians don't feel comfortable posting here anymore.
