Interesting, telling, and disturbing story from Fox News this morning.

Afterall, we wouldn't want to offend anyone by telling them they are on the way to hell without Jesus as their Savior.

57 percent of evangelical church attenders said they believe many religions can lead to eternal life, in conflict with traditional evangelical teaching.

I tried to find the specific question asked of those surveyed and could not find it. I would be curious to see how the question was phrased. I'm no expert on polling, but I think the numbers can be skewed on many topics depending on how the question was asked.

It rises the question then on what "universal church" really means. Jesus says in John 10:16 that He has other flocks. This has always been ascribed to the Gentile race and them being saved also since Jesus was talking to the Jews. Maybe someone could clarify this. I'm only talking about the Christian religions and not other religions as I'm sure this article is referring to.

I just read in Portals of Prayer that most Americans believe that all good people go to Heaven. The question that followed was "how good is good enough". There's only one way. The Bible says so over and over again.

If that's true about good people going, Heaven will be a lonely place.

JN 10:16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

These other flocks are the ones that will listen to Christ's voice.
This means they will believe the Bible. It cannot be other religions, since they do not believe the Bible.

Thanks,
Ed

Some do say that. I also find it incredible.

Christ said these words prior to the resurrection. He was sent only for Israel. (Mt.15:24).
After the resurrection He received all the authoroty and called all men to Himself (Jn.12:32), that is also the Gentiles.

The sheep are people of this world, since the Shepherd died for the world.

And in Heaven we will see the great Lamb on the throne who is called a Shephred and there will be many people by the throne (the sheep) who were taken up from the world (v.14).
Rev.7:14-17.

Thanks, :)

I've heard the Mormons say that Jesus was referring to the prophets that came to the west cost of America teaching the Law.

Well, with the Pope saying that Muslims could get to heaven, this doesn't come as a great shock...there are Lutherans in my family who believe this nonsense, too.

If we hear something enough, it must be true. Isn't it? Sadly, lots of people have bought into this though.
