Just to be clear, I am adoring this new forum. We seem to have a new freedom which I am enjoying. However, does our freedom of speech come at a high price?

I'm just wondering how much we are to put up with attacks on our Jewish friends? Is it truly a free for all? I was hoping this could be a friendly place, but perhaps I've misunderstood the purpose?

In other words, I don't want to complain, but I'm feeling worn out by some of the bashing that I am seeing. There are a few threads that have turned into hateful debates.

Or it could be I'm being silly and that the people I see being bashed are capable of taking care of themselves. :sorry:

Your feeling worn out?

When we talked about this new forum we specifically said that we could not disrespect each other's persons. That is what is happening. If this behaviour does not stop, I suggest us all make an exodus to a different forum entirely where we have the power to curtail such hate speech.

The price of having an open forum, so that all may speak freely, is that
the type of posting you mention will happen. I believe they only
reflect poorly on the poster, not Jews.

I don't mind it; we can defend our selves or ignore said post.
I'd much rather have it be this way, then they way things
are controlled at the MF forum.

And if something gets really nasty, the post can be reported.
Which is actually what I am going to do now with one post-
I think is only like the third time I have reported a post
in three years. I won't do it unless the post is really vile...

Yeah, I understand totally.
Of course if we were smart, we would just
ignore such posts, report the ones that
need it, and let such posters move.....

which is precisely what we should do in this case. He's only here to cause trouble, but this is america--we don't have to give him the time of day.

Do you sit there with a palm bible of some sort where you insert words and post them? ^_^ You just seem to have a bible quote for EVERYTHING! I'm not sure I've ever once seen a post of yours that isn't riddled with them. :P

I think those attacks are just plain going to happen.

I have to say I think it is in the best interest of everyone to continue to respond factually and not emotionally, and not to be constantly reporting posts but to choose not to be offended instead. If we turn this into another forum where people run to the mods for every single post they don't like, we're going to end up having the same heavy-handed moderation and adults don't need that. -- so lets all be adults, discuss things all out on the threads or choose to ignore trolls if it gets to be too much for us individually.

Freedom DOES come at a high price, but also high responsibility and it is very worth it.

Hey! No bible quotes! ^_^ You must be slipping. ;)I just put 'em my siggy and change them according to the mood I am. Quoting Scriptures to atheists is much like "spitting into the wind" but ya never know when one verse might just hit one of them over the head.

kivi says: Jews attract hatred like a magnet attracts iron filings. It is simply the nature of the beast. Bringing out and identifying the corrupt vessals of that hate is an important thing. This is a perfect place to do it. Previously, the structural advantage given to the proponents of evangelism made any real meaningful discussion impossible. Here, it is possible. Why should we give up that which is so precious to all of us, the opportunity to defend Judaism? Isn't that what we are here for. Aren't we to go into the building when all else go out? Well, for me, I'm going in and staying in

Good for you. ^_^ I wish it was in me. If someone was attacking me the way you guys are being attacked, I'd tuck my tail and run.

Hey, if you're ok with it...who am I to complain? Just know you have my support.

And ShirChadash, I agree with you that this is better. I don't think we should run and tell "mommy" or "daddy" every time someone steps on our toes. It's just too bad everyone can't be civil.

I have a study on this, but my view would probably sound "alien" to most here, especially Messianics.Thoughts?.

Matt 23:34 `Because of this, behold!, I am Commissioning toward ye Prophets and Wisemen and Scribes, out of Them Ye shall be Killing and ye shall be Crucifying,...............

Reve 11:7 `And whenever they should be finishing the testimony/witness of them, the wild-beast, the one ascending out of the Abyss, shall be doing with them, battle, and shall be conquering them, and shall be Killing Them

I guess I have a different mentality. I know for a statistical fact that what has succeeded in cleaning up crime in inner cities has been the effort to deal with little things like graffit and petty theft. It changes the aura of the neighborhood. If violators are not reported to the mods, they cannot do their job, and the forum slips slowly down. I'm not saying to report everything we don't like, because not everything we don't like violates the rules. But if something is a legitimate offense, it is our responsibility to report. We can all make fun of hall monitors, but its nice to be able to walk from the classroom to the bathroom without bullies beating you up.

you could take this whole forum to the fellowship side of UT

you can stay here and start putting the offensive ones on ignore

PM me and let me know if you need a fellowship subforum ok:hug: Just to be clear, I am adoring this new forum. We seem to have a new freedom which I am enjoying. However, does our freedom of speech come at a high price?
