That fellow standing facing the couple is Joel - one of my favorite people!!
His wife is Elle. That fellow in the Jerusalem tee-shirt is studying the meat deli counter - they have both meat and dairy deli - and a fresh meat butcher shop in store as well as a dry goods, frozen, refrigerated and large kosher wine section!!

Is it possible that we could talk about groceries without it dissolving

Wish I could recomend a kosher deli in my city - but our only kosher deli went out of business this past winter so it's owner could move back to NYC.
Thankfully we have a store that sells kosher meat. But he made some really good matzo ball soup. Good floaters!!

where I live now that only kosher grocer is 3 hours away - meaning a trip down and up the mountain - no fresh meat - all frozen and much more expensive than the frest kosher meats I was getting at Jo-El's ---- and we can not afford thye shipping costs of online providers..... SNAFU

We got a shoulder roast each year - killer expensive but worth every dime! Got all my meats form them for quite a few years, have a fresh meat dept right there in the store --- now kosher is over 100 miles away - several hours, what meats they do have are frozen and the selection is also toward the pricer cuts.... arrrgggg.... still trying to find out how to afford internet meats and shipping....

Henny, if you are keeping Kosher than try the fish route. They don't have to have a shocket. Also you could go the vegetarian route.
Getting meats shipped over the internet is not such a great idea considering the enourmous amounts of contaminates that are out there. In fact just a few degrees warmer in shipping could cause a very nasty death (not exaggerating).

with fish, avoid deep sea fish as they are just full of mercury. Fresh water fish are better if there is a (at least mostly) uncontaminated source nearby. Unfortunately due to polutants dumped in the streams most of the fish caught in this country is no longer, strictly speaking, fit for human consumption.
I would specifically avoid any fish from major rivers (unless the epa has certified them as having been cleaned). Small mountain streams are the best.

Can you tell me anything about the fish in Israel? Sea bream from the Mediteranian and talapia from the Galilee are my favorites.

unfortunately I cannot. However Israel is considerably more "Green" than the US so they would probably have someone who would be able to tell you the heavy metals level in area fish.
