So our current Pastor was giving a small speech at the Jubilee dinner. He told a story about one of our former Pastors...not telling which one it was...
The story:
This Pastor had a lady come in to the church office. she had, in a box, the remains of the family cat. a cherished pet.she asked the Pastor if he would conduct a funeral service for the cat.
Now, all of our Pastors have been rather conservative...
so the Pastor said, "We just don't do that. I'm sorry for your loss but..."
and she said "will you at least say a prayer at graveside for my cat? He really was a part of our family."
and the Pastor again very gently said that he just couldn't do that.
so she asked if the Methodist church up the road would do it. (you remember there's something like 7 churches on Buckwheat)
and Pastor said "I don't know. I don't know him so I couldn't say."
so the woman started to turn away and she turned back and said "Pastor? Do you think if I offer him $150 to do the service, he'll say yes?"
and the Pastor said
Why didn't you tell me it was a Lutheran cat?
