I am wondering if there are any very conservative, traditional, old-fashioned Mennonite communities in existance today. I am talking about communities who live exactly like the Amish when it comes to their way of life, but are Mennonites rather than Amish? Those who do not use anything modern at all and stick firm to no electricity, no cars, etc. I am wishing to join one of these communities in the near future, however I don't think I could fully integrate myself into the Amish communities (because of the language barrier, and then there is a practice of theirs that I do not agree with). I am praying that there is at least one community out there that lives as I wish, but I am having trouble locating one snice I don't really know where to begin. Can anyone help? God bless! In Christ,
~Grace~

I know there is one, or a group of them, in Goshen and Nappanee Indiana and I'm pretty sure there are some in Pennsylvania. I'm not familular with any in Canada though.

Where we live in Ontario Canada there is a large Mennonite presence. There are even areas that the road has a turning lanes just for horse and buggys. Many of the one that live in our area are very old fashion, going withou cars, phones, electricity, etc.

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania is home to the largest Mennonite Community in the world. Winnipeg, Mantobia is the second largest. The largest Amish Community is Holmes County, Ohio. The second largest is Lancaster County. I too, am also interested in joining an Old Order or Conservative Mennonite community. I have done a great deal of reading on the subject. I really admire their modesty and simplicity of life. It is great to know that someone else wants to do the same thing. I thought I was the only one! You may want to read the book "The 20 Most Asked Questions About the Amish and Mennonites." by Merle and Phyllis Good. What is it that you disagree with the Amish on?
