I want to be sure you all will be happy with it

it is Messianic Torah Orthodox Forum

the first word being Messianic is a must as it comes from the Messianic forums and needs that for coding purposes the last word Forum is a no brainer but how bout the middle two words?
have Orthodox defines your groups purpose from the rest of the forum and Torah tells you what is #1 in your life besides Yeshua as Savior....lemme know if you want to try other combinations

the one we had to throw out so far was Orthodox Judaism as it sent out a red flag as being to Jewish/ Rabbinical, that may not be true but the appearance would always put it under attack Im afraid:)

Messianic Judaism... could easily describe those who lean towards the Judaic understanding, worship style, and foundational understanding of scriptures.

Messianic Christian... could easily describe those who retain christian style version of the faith, while having a great love for the Jewish people, and see their place in prophectic scripture.

we had lots of discussion on those two last year and they are two vague most of our posters fit neatly in with both groups so you would then not need either one

what we need is a fellowship forum for the more orthodox members and yet still we need to define it further as some are kinda orthodox but not as much as others

I think the Messianic Hebrew Christian one tells the viewer alot..Its part of the Messianic Movement, Hebrew and Christian so we have that one down

like wise this one is part of the Messianic Movement what other TWO words best describes it but keeps it distinct:)

or does everyone like Torah Orthodox

I am not orthodox but christian doesn't descibe my judiac faith and understanding... so Orthodox Messianic Fellowship Forum
does not describe me... yet given the alternative... this leaves me with a group that is more jewish than this gentile can handle.

I am for the lack of better terms... Messianic Judaism.. not Messianic Jew... but a believer in the Judaism of Yeshua.

Not that my opinion matters diddly squat, but I always thought it was absolutely cowardly that the opinions of outsiders dictated the name of the Messianic forum. The name Messianic Judaism should never have been changed. My less than two sense worth? This particular subforum should be the Orthodox Messianic Judaism forum because it is for those who follow the halakha of the rabbis. If outsiders don't like that and attack, so be it. Get a little backbone, you guys.

But whatever, this ain't my forum anymore. I'm just presenting my logic for whoever cares, which is probably no one.

The original intent of the Orthodox Messianic was for those who were more orthodox and like GerTzedek says it was for those following the halakha of rabbis.

Orthodox Messianic Judaism

I am a biblical judaistic follower of Yeshua... which is not quite either of the two categories that you made subforums for.

A. Do you keep Torah ( what can be kept) like those who are more 'Orthodox'

or

B. do you hold like the churches and other gentiles that:

1. It has been done away with
or
2. It is only for Jews to keep and Gentiles only need follow the things given in Acts 15?

A. would be that you would fit in the Orthodox Messianic forum

and

B. would be the Hebrew Christian forum ( even though you aren't Jewish) otherwise the main forum would be fine for posting most of what you do now anyway, wouldn't it?

none of us will fit perfectly but the idea is safe havens and respect and the ability to restrict those who cant respect the area they are in

my idea for Hebrew Christian is some one who embraces MJ but not Halachically

and has a connection back to the church

my idea for Orthodox MJ is one who doesnt have that strong connection to the Church AND is more Halachic in lifestyle

Both are connected to each other as are all MJs, but because of the variance/degrees in Halachah they each have different priorities, and that can cause a need for these two places, to focus on each groups experience with their own particular priority respected and supported
by the smaller group.....Then in the main forum we can celebrate just being MJ:groupray:

So where do I go, being committed to Torah and mitzvot, shomrei mitzvot to the best of my ability, but also integrated into and serving within the church as there is no frum MJ community in the UK?

it is where you are most comfortable with in faith... are you comfortable with sunday keeping, christmas, easter, communion, or are you more sabbath keeping, shukkot, passover, sedar in faith.I think your mistaken Vis, its not about separating the two groups between what we think is acceptable or not, its about respect and entering a place with respect...So if you are in the Messianic Hebrew Christian room you will more than likely have respect for those in that room who do attend church and participate not only in things that MJs do but have no problem with hanging around folks during the Christmas Season

And like wise in the Orthodox Messianic Judaism room one would expect respect for those who take Judaism seriously, even if they may not have the same convictions, they wont make those who do feel uncomfortable in there:thumbsup:

I posted this link in the main forum last week and linked it to the this forum last week too, and the new MHC forum just a moment ago, so I want you all to have a look at the link again too

Its important for this one paragraph (highlighted)

NOW we still need to set them up but in the mean time one rule will apply

NO RIDICULING THE OTHER'S SUBFORUM ok?

We are still a:groupray: Mishpachah and need to show it by our love and respect ,and these forums are here to help facilitate fellowship not to act as hideaways from which to bash your brother behind closed doors....Enjoy the fellowship in each and bless each other that we have such a great place to play

Congrats everyone if you have questions PM me ok?:hug::hug::hug::hug:

I have seen sooooooooo many forums go down the tubes when the subforums hide a flame fest inside them....Lets try to visit our differences with respect and always give credit to the wisdom of this saying "Two Rabbis , Three Opinions" and respect that k?

i know you will try:groupray:

Congrats on your new Name:groupray:

Thanks for the kind replies and to tell me I'm welcome in either. We don't do 'either church or MJ' here - the reality is we are accepting of Torah law as a family pretty much as we did in an orthodox community. We function in a Gentile wider church, as we have to. I think defining a group that broadly accepts halachah as Messianic Orthodox is very clear and a useful way of explaining who we are.

Blessings
