As I understand it, there are plans to implement a Chatbox as soon as some of the more troublesome bugs are worked out of other features.

Yes the chatbox isn't gone for good, just waiting on it to be installed back in. Please be patient.

That would be great. It helped a lot of newcomers to find places that they would have trouble finding otherwise. And just having a "live" person to talk to meant that those with troubles got immediate response. I hope it won't be put at the end of the list. It was one of the main features for a lot of people that I'm sure are looking forward to it being replaced, Hopefully when it does get replaced it will have filters to weed out the most offensive of the trolls? I think I may have read that somewhere, but I'm not sure if it applied to the chatbox? Any information as to time frames would be helpful also.

People with dial-up find that it slows down their homepage refresh considerably so it would be good to be able to close off that feature as an option when doing other things.

Without a place for live chat, this place seems a lot more cold and emotionally detached. We either need a chat box or a controlled ILC channel.

EDIT: Good to know that they are working on it. Some of the friends I had from the forums I would only meet in the CB.

It is a priority :) I think it makes the place homier and more inviting as well. And people like it.

Nope, personally I'd either like to see it stay gone or have an option to disable it. It only adds to the visual clutter on CF for me and I almost never use it.

As much as I grew to not like it, I voted yes, cause right now it could be a big help as people get use to things.

My only addendum would be for a disable feature to be added too....please :)

I am so glad this is coming back, I made a lot of nice friends here through the chat box and will hang out the flags on its return to the UK, as most of my friends live in either the USA or Australia so calling them is not an options for me ........ just love the idea, just hurry up with i,t and would love the return of my pet too...... Woooo Hooooo. good stuff CF, this is more like it and if anyone doesn't want it dont go there hehe....

I would love to see the chatbox back. Although I personally didn't use it that much, I know of many people that used it all the time and they have missed it terribly.

Please bring it back. It was nice to watch people having fun and joking about with each other in there, and it was a good ministry tool, too :D

I just hope the rules are more lax this time. Small talk is fine, but what if someone needs an immediate response? Or what if they just want to have a live chat with someone about their problems? Sometimes posting a thread in the prayer request or Christian advice forums doesn't provide the same way a live chat does. Live chat is just more human.

I agree. That certainly would be nice. The chatbox is way too bulky and I just don't like the looks of it. It could be much smaller.

You can disable the chatbox... go to UserCP --> Options... at the very bottom of Misc. Options (at the bottom of the page), there is the option to disable the chabox (also options to customize your font and stuff if you want to use the chatbox).
