Important Answers about Blessings on CF2

Hi, let me introduce myself, i'm the one in charge of all the mess that you're facing on CF2 right now.

Now that the bad part is passed, let me talk about a bug we had yesterday...

some guys here found out that i forgot a detail related to the Banking for the Blessings... i forgot to change the number of days before being able to receive interests on bank deposts... it was set to "0"... so imagine, each time you were visiting the bank, you were receiving a ton of blessings in interests. The problem is that these fun guys were playing with the flaw so much that they gained millions if not billions...

So instead of making some hunting and have someone profit from the flaw, it was decided that the best thing to do was to revert the Blessings to what they were to the point of the upgrade... but it is not the best thing to do as you would loose the blessings you gained by posting on the forum AND the ones you received in gifts... so i decided to give everybody an extra 5000 blessings for the problems occuring.

I hope this will ease the revert for everybody...

Also, some details about how things will work for now.

The blessings are actually points you gain in some actions, like posting, repping, rating threads... a lot of things, but also a lot of settings in the admin side.

We changed from a bloated system to a very professional system, supported by the solid duo of coders who built this system... But as you know, the more professional you go, the more complicated are the situations --- not so on the userside though, because in the days to come, you will gain more features than before.


For now, we changed the subscriptions... instead of 1000 blessings for each 1$ you invest, the amount of blessings is exponential... the more you subscribe, the higher the number of blessings.

Also, as you can see in your navbar, you can see that link... so basically, that's it.. .you can buy blessings, directly from your paypal account, just because you want blessings. This is a different way to do a cool donation to CF.com, but also a good way for you to control how much blessings you want to gain. Here too, the more blessings you buy, the cheaper they get...

... about the drawings, some people would find loteries to be non-christian or unnacceptable on a site like this one, but remember that the unnaceptable is when you burn the resources that are useful to feed your family... these blessings you give to have a ticket are for the pleasure of it, only... if you live to have blessings, you may have to stop participating in any drawings.

The example here is the only demo we can have before the final release of the engine, but you can imagine Armory, Gifts of postbit gadgets, flags, username design, etc... a lot of things to share among members.

It does. It's visible right away when you use the donate option but only visible in your transaction log if you use the award option

Because the Blessings were reset, but one (at least) of the bugs weren't fixed first.

1. Last week, my bank-Acct. had*100,000* blessings in it. But

The bank's down right now and the Blessings system is being worked on, so I'm not sure if the information it shows is accurate. See how it looks tomorrow or the next day. :)

They allowed you to create custom shortcuts on the navagation bar of the old forums. I'm hoping they bring it back.

OK, after the night some have passed playing Generous Bill Gates, it was impossible to reset all the outrageous donations and awards on the forum -- let's say 1200+ were done...

so the system is back to normal MINUS the bank... no more banking until we fix this properly... actually it is fixed, the bank was not the problem, it is the monstruous amount of blessings that a lot of members here have that caused problems..

simply: banks are not made for millionaires... they usually have their own cache or somewhere to invest their money... the bank is a place for the low revenue people, like you and me... but as a lot of you have millions of blessings, the bank overflowed each time someone was entering it... giving interests and bonus for your blessings... like any bank would do...

anyway, i've switched the bank off... and IF someone find a flaw in the system again, due to wrong settings, instead of playing with the blessings of everybody, please report the problems.

for now, as indicated in the OP, blessings are back to before the upgrade, PLUS 5000 blessings for all who already had blessings, and now the bank accounts are emptied so the blessings you had in bank are NOW in your hands... you will be able to put them at the bank later in the next days when we set it correctly.

So you can now live in peace and have fun with your blessings.

oh, btw, here is the quote that helped me out to find the bugs... technical, but come from the author of the entire Blessings system:

However, I have discovered why your users have enormous amounts of credits:
You have enabled for every usergroup unlimited access to the post award system.
If you look at the Moderate Donations / Loans link in the acp you will notice _many_ outrageous awards being made between ordinary users. I checked your usergroup settings and this is indeed the case.

You have given them -1 for all 4 limits in the post award system settings in the usergroup settings, a configuration normally reserved for admins or other fully trusted group. You will have to change your settings to something like 0 limits (disabled) for the non-worthy groups. Then you can go and undo/delete all of the outrageous awards your members made. It might be easier to clean up by uninstalling and reinstalling vBCredits.

Okay, so let me get this straight. I had 164,980 blessings in the bank when the site changed over. You gave me 5,000 for being a good sport about the down time. Members are asking about why we're getting different rates of blessings for doing different things--- I told them it was because of the VBExperience (or whatever it's called) feature that we had at the planning site and the tech set up different rates. I'm wondering if this IS true and if so, what are the different rates?

Okay.

... But, I have a problem with what you said about my friend. It's not exactly edifying, to say anyone gained them "illegally", when in fact it was a glitch that gave these blessings away. It implies that their character has no honor. And, this woman is as godly a member as anyone I've met here. So, it was wrong for you to imply otherwise.

This is a good example of how when a person's character is above reproach, if someone says something bad about them, no one will believe them. Still...you should really be more careful of how you speak about people. ;)

@Angeldove97, i think the only way people are to get different blessings from others may be the site subscribers, but i'm not sure, i will take a look... the staff in charge of permissions and blessings will be more able to answer that... i'm more into coding right now.

sure... like before... maybe the system is less generous than before, i do not know... but in a day or two i will bring a FAQ page in the Blessings system where you can see what you gain and what you loose on your actions.. right now it is quite random for all, even me!

Wisdom Seeker, to be fair, nexialys did not call your friend's honor into question. His statement had several aspects in it that you needed to ignore in order to get to that place.

Here is his statement.

If you notice, he place "illegally" in quotes, which means, in this instance, not gotten in the orthodox way. Not gotten in a manner proscribed as normal for this site, which includes posting, winning them in games or quizzes, receiving them from becoming a site supporter or receiving them in blessing from someone else.

He also stated that he understood that what was done was done as a joke (knowing, most likely, that they would be taken back when the glitch was discovered) and that it (the manner in which it was done) was not malicious.

I'm not sure how you could read that statement and think that anything that was said could be implied to be harmful unless you disregarded parts of the post. I find that the only person who owes anyone an apology would be you for both misreading the original post and insisting, yet again, that there is fault to be assigned.

As one of the people who went to bed last night with Infinite blessings ;) I'd just like to take a moment to say that I did not take Nex's comment to be negative at all simply for the fact that he states that he understands it was done jokingly and not with any malicious intent.

Those of us who discovered and played with the glitch (for fun, you can look up the posts about it) knew full well that it would be reset and admitted so in our posts. Nex made it clear that he understood our intentions were not nefarious in his post.

WS, I think you are focusing too much on the "illegally" portion (understandable) and not enough on what he wrote after that. Take a moment to re-read what he said and I think you'll understand what he was actually driving at. Just a simple misunderstanding IMO :)

Our new coder started yesterday (Monday) and things should start progressing again...

Please don't make other people's blessings visible until the bank is back. I've heard many people complaining (when blessings were visible to everyone) that they did not like having all their blessings on display. They usually kept the bulk of their blessings in the bank with only a few on hand that displayed in their posts.

I suggested via PM that before they make blessings visible and after they get the bank fixed to transfer everyones blessings into the bank then we can transfer all or part back to onhand.

As far as I know blessings were reset twice early on after the transition... they have not been reset since :scratch:

This is an important question. I don't mind not knowing when the blessings system/bank itself will be fixed but, I'd like to know if we're going to loose our blessings yet again.

I asked LeeD about blessings after Nex left and was told we could keep/share blessings... I had previous PM's from Nex that they would not be reset again...:thumbsup:

The anonamous feature is on the list... Hopefully soon...

Few ways you can do it.
1) Send the blessings to someone you trust to forward it to them.
2) Create a sock account & send it to the sock account & then forward it to them.
3) Wait for them to change this :)

for now, as indicated in the OP, blessings are back to before the upgrade, PLUS 5000 blessings for all who already had blessings, and now the bank accounts are emptied so the blessings you had in bank are NOW in your hands... you will be able to put them at the bank later in the next days when we set it correctly.




OK...that was posted on May 9th.

Almost a month ago.

This has now gone way beyond what is acceptable. There has now been more than enough time to have all these changes implemented properly and to have all systems and services on this site running as they should be.

The members of this site had these changes forced upon them. In the vast majority of cases the members did not want these to happen. Prior to this happening, CF was the best Christian site on the web by some distance. Now it is just unworkable, bland, and faceless. No different, and certainly no better, than a whole bunch other Christian boards out there.

I honestly never thought I'd be able to say this, but ForU.mess at it's very worst was still an improvement on this.

As with thousands of other members of this site, I had to work hard for the money I paid for my site supporter subscription, and, in the present economic climate, this is getting to be even more the case.

I must ask that either the services I am paying for are available for use, or that my supporter subscription be refunded. If Lee wants to run this site a a business, then thats fine, but he must accept that when he takes our money he also enters into a contract to supply certain services on the site. He is now in breach of that contract.

It hurts me to have to speak out like this. I love CF dearly and it is heartbreaking to see it being treated this way.
