Okay just tried again and its working properly on I/E and Firefox too as I was told by Geocajun

Angel4Truth rep was 46302262 and now is Reps: 46328862.

It looks fixed.

Maybe its disabled for non mod site supporters...lol..cause it dont work for me either..I tried IE, and when it did load there was no "SEND" button and my rep power was only 600000 in the box instead of 660000...If there is someone who I have recently repped I get the box pop-up telling me that I must spread it around..But when I find someone I have never repped NOTHING happens..

When I try to rep someone this is what I get----

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 21483052 bytes) in /var/www/html/reputation.php(380) : eval()'d code on line 15

Is anyone else getting this also? I tried to rep Spudgrandma:(

I just repped 2 people.....

Their rep levels went up and other than the rep window showing up R-E-A-L-L-Y slowly, I had no problems.

I'd bet that this is happening if too many people are trying to rep at the same time with the way the page is getting generated.

Yeah, but you only have 1122 values to load... picture it trying to load 180 times that many values....

Angel4Truth
15th May 2008, 09:22 PM
Seems as if those of us with high rep powers are the ones having the issues so its obviously tied to how many numbers are listed in that drop down box - the higher the rep power the larger the issue

Lisa0315
15th May 2008, 09:26 PM
I wonder whose idea the drop down box was. Weird. And, if we are going to choose our rep power, they should give us NEGATIVE rep power too! Oh, wait! I don't know how I would feel if someone gave me a negative rep.:sorry:

Oh, Dear! That did come out all wrong. I meant that I picked one person to test my rep thingie on and I picked you because I like YOU and one of the reasons is because of your user name. It is just so cheerful to me. Like you are. (Did I fix that up?):D:hug:

Maybe they could fill the dropdown with percentages, instead? 10% through 100%, in steps of 10, would really be all that is needed, IMO.

hi  when is the problem of posting going to be fixed? that seems to be the most basic function of a forum, to be able to post and know your post will be able to be found at the end of a thread (or beginning if people have it set that way) - where currently we are playing post potluck a lot of the time

and as far as the rep drop down box - either numbers or percentages - why are these needed at all? if i give 10% to one person and 20% to another .... and 70% to another i can imagine a lot of hurt feelings instead of a rep just being a rep

Angel4Truth
15th May 2008, 11:49 PM
I just give the full thing to each person i rep.

Me too, can you imagine trying to do a swap with the ability to give a certain amount. I don't want to figure it out to the penny so to speak.

Also, if you have say 20 reps per day and you don't give the full amount it looks like you would just be wasting part of your rep power unless the extra rolls over.....nope tooooo much figuring for me. :swoon:

If I want to rep them I want to rep them.
No need to be stingy with my rep power! ^_^

Has anyone found a place that tells how many reps you've used/got left?
I've been going back and checking the times then counting but it's kind of time consuming.

I'm hoping there's a better way but I've just not found it yet.......

I would prefer that the drop down box be removed and a way for each member to rep 20/40 times (depending on SS status) at full rep power each time be found, if possible.

I could not be more disappointed about how this transition is going. The site is now owned by someone who runs these kinds of places as a primary profession yet I can't help but think that this was VERY poorly planned. Do all of Lee's sites have this many problems after a MAJOR change? I seriously doubt it as that's not exactly a great way to maintain sponcors and site supporters. Do the other forums that he owns/runs only have ONE tech during the changes? I don't understand why a couple of temp's can't be hired at least until EVERYTHING is back up and running.

There has been nothing but one problem after another and whenever there are complaints made or even just advocating for certain features, we are told to "have patience" and that we need to "be Christian" about it all. Does that mean we are to just stay silenet when we are unhappy even if we are being reasonable with complaints and not vulgar about it? I have even been told that if I am this unhappy that maybe I could find someplace else to go - is that how it is here now? Are there THAT many people coming to this site that members can be told essentially not to let the door hit them on the way out?

This isn't "just another Internet" site to most of us. I have developed some VERY close friendships and have depended Heavily on the fellowship I used to get here while going through some Horrible things in my life. Most of it has now just been wiped out with little to no idea of what to expect other than general statements. I'm sorry but that is inadequate. If my site supporter status were to be due for renewal now, Forget it! And sponsoring others as SS? No way! I can't even recommend this site right now let alone support it!!

I DO NOT want to leave but I am TIRED of this!! Come on Lee! Use some extra resources to get CF back up and running 100%!!!!

Yeah, actually, being quiet about it is the Christian thing to do. Let me show you:

2 Peter 1:5-11 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren F3 (http://bible1.crosswalk.com/OnlineStudyBible/bible.cgi?passage=2pe+1:6&version=kjv&context=1&showtools=1#F3) nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Sorry, we are honestly trying to keep people updated as far as possible.
This is a huge site, and a lot of the features had been added on and were impossible to transfer across. It is being worked on... and I vary much hope that the fellowship aspect of things is unaffected... we can still chat and advise and support people..

And Jesus was very patient when he was in the temple calling it a den of thieves and overturning tables... I think patience is sometimes overrated by Christians. I am glad the first Christians in America lost patience and formed this nation in defiance of patience with things as they were. I am glad that finally in Europe England and other countries lost patience and stood up to Germany in WWII. I am glad God lost patience with Israel and reigned down judgment on them straightening them up so the lineage of our savior Jesus could come to pass. I am glad people have enough wisdom to realize we sometimes have to stand up and complain instead of being silent and patient. I think things are slowing improving MORE now because of the complaints of many here.... NOT patience with the tech that was replaced. I think there should be more complaints and impatience along the way but in a civil and respectful manner (with wisdom). I do not think it is unchristlike to want action at all. I think though in the way we complain and treat others we will reflect Jesus. I feel if someone is getting paid they should expect criticism and even a level of complaints that come with the job when things are a mess. I think those unable to perform in the job they are given should move on and sometimes the only way to get them to is to complain as patience doesn't work a lot of the time. We have the vote in America because of lack of patience in people. If things do not change here we vote in others that we hope will change them.
I say give the new guy a chance, He has fixed things and one thing that truly annoyed me (out of order posting) was fixed soon after he was notified about it. (YAY!)
don't stop complaining..... but remember complaining is judging in an extent so according to scripture we need to be careful in the manner we complain because later.... it can boomarang back on us if we are unjust, unfair, and uncaring about all involved.

those 4 are the newest addition that I just love....however, I'm not sure how I can integrate/transfer the old blog into my new blog. is there a way to do that?

What I learned is that anytime there's a change, I just have to be patient with the changes and from what I've gathered from Lee and the techs...they figured that most people would rather meet and post and connect regardless of the changes than to risk losing members having to wait for one month for all the bugs and wrinkles get ironed/straightened out.

I can't speak for anyone else; I'm just as impatient as the next person, but you know what? It's just an internet...step back, take a deep breath, bake a cake, walk a dog, read a book, fix a broken step, go shop, visit a friend... life goes on. When you come back online...it's still gonna be there. :)

Lisa, it may be a "silly internet forum" to you but it's a lot more than that to others so please don't belittle it, ok? There are people who are home bound, those with mental challenges who feel safe here, others who work shifts that make "normal" socializing challenging, others who only have this forum for Christian fellowship and then there are others who, like me, have become very close to those who helped me get through some awful times in my life.

Soph's point is that just sitting by and always trying to be silently pateint may not always be the best path to go. I, for one, repped him for saying what he did.

"Thanks for repping so and so" without any mention of anything else? Good solution

I keep getting a message of having posted a duplicate post; when i haven't ...... is this a problem known about already? thanks

Yes. I keep getting it sometimes as well.

We already have a list of who we have repped on our control panel so we don't really need that extra confirmation that the popup is giving

What would be good? I don't like the "luck" thing, either. "May you be blessed in return?"

"Thanks for repping so and so" without any mention of anything else?

I like blessed instead of luck. I just despise the luck thing as I said. I would be okay with no pop up too. Either way.

Ok...here is what I'm told. (I told you I don't know anything. I harass mnphysicist and Letalis on MSN :P)

To get no pop-up at all would be something the tech would need to work on. To change the message someone on staff can do themselves.

There is one iddy biddy thing that bugs me, but I am not really complaining.

I cannot stand repping people and seeing that thing pop up that says, May you be that lucky or whatever. I wish it said, May you be that blessed!

I don't believe in luck.

Lisa

I agree, the wording is not appropriate for this site.

How about, "May God bless you in return" I am afraid that might upset non-Christians, but this IS a Christian site afterall.

I don't remember getting or giving reps with a message in the old CF. why should it be any different with the NEW CF?? I agree: either change the wording, or leave it out, and please NO popups. Internet's full of them and CF shouldn't be ONE of them!

Ok. Here's what we're going to do: we'll change the message. Hopefully tonight maybe. And then we'll ask Adrian to code it so that the pop-up is optional. If you want it, you can select so in your controls and if you don't then you can select to turn it off.

All it would take to do away with I think would be to comment out a line of code.

Its in the same plug in that the text would be and to change that is as simple as editing a post. Once its locate but its probably the only instance of the word Luck in the whole thing.

Edit:

And I have to remember to read through to the end for a conclusion before posting. ^_^

Make the editing changes that don't require Adrian's intervention.

Bother Adrian with the other totally inane part only *after* he's been able to fix the actual *bugs* -- like the "too wide for the screen" and the "moderated post" bugs.

Sheesh.

We think the "moderated post" bug is under control. At least we know what is causing it--a messed up User Rank. Apparently Erwin used User Ranks a lot on the back end.

To get round the "moderated post" problem, just click backspace twice, then highlight your entire post and copy it, and then paste it on the quick-post at the bottom of any page on the thread. There is no moderated post problem when you use quick post. The only trouble with this is when the mods approve the moderated post, you get two posts.

How many reps can I give a day?

I ran out yesterday and I still can't give any now...is that supposed to happen?

Angel4Truth

Hi youthwalk - i think its 20 reps in a 24 hour period for non site supporters and 40 for site supporters in a 24 hour period. youll be able to start repping when youve passed the 24 hour mark of the first rep you gave yesterday. you can check them in your user cp to see the times you gave them.

Yes, it's back, but I don't think the back-end of delivering the reports to the right teams is working yet. But, we'll figure 'em out as they start streaming in. I think there will be an official announcement shortly. We're running around in circles and screaming just this moment.

dunno what happened but for some reason CF's server didn't exist on my end. I had to edit my hosts file just to get here and graphics like avatars are not working right sometimes I have no graphics at all not even post buttons and reply. I wonder if they changed IP addresses and it hadn't propagated my way.

good to hear... if they are unable to get on at all I can tell you here how I did it if it can be relayed to them. It involved editing the hosts file adding 2 lines as follows.

I’m wondering how to get the word out that we need Christians on our open discussion Forum at Zenguide.com.

The forum is open to all faiths, but has no Christians at present. There was one but he recently left and now the Christian Faith is unrepresented. Other faiths, Buddhist, Shaman, Atheist, Hindu, Pagan, are represented there.
