Look, the changes are just aggravating because not all the features are added on yet. I even had someone tell me that if they could reduce Chrisbot's size (he took up too much server space) or if they could somehow put him on another server, he could be brought back. We just need to be patient and let them finish.

This site is technically "under construction" and "in the middle of an upgrade". By rights, none of us should be here to see any of this. The alternative was to keep the board down until it was all ready--probably would have taken another week.

I LOVE IT, we look alot more legit now with a more professional style, yet they still have the characters for fun & stuff.
People have to realize that is isn't just the B&E folks who are on CF, we have alot of people into serious debate & discussion too; they truly dislike all the dolly & frivolous icon & fluff.
You can't please everybody - I'd rather they did specifics of issues they want changed, like the bank or whatever. But it's just too soon to be making this petition already when they haven't finished implimenting it all yet & are working out kinks.

I posted this in another thread about the upgrade, it's like getting a new computer
1st we get the new hardware (new servers and such)
then we install the OS (the base forum software) where we are now
then we install our games & toys (to come over the next few weeks I'm guessing)
after you get all your stuff installed on your computer, then you go in & change your personal settings and such to fit your personal style.

Sorry if this has already been said, I looked through the first few pages but don't have time to look through them all. I know I don't really post much, but I lurk fairly often, so despite my post count this isn't coming from someone who's just never on. Just someone who never really posts lol.
Anyway, is there anyway to view post times as the exact date and time on the list of threads? Like, before if you went into, say, the Christian Advice forum, there would be a list of threads and when the last post was made in them. It would say 7th January 2008 at 3:44pm or something like that. Now it just says "Today", 1 week ago, etc. Since I don't visit daily I like having an idea of when I last read so I can catch up, but I really can't do that as it is. And making a note of the last thread I read would be pointless, as any replies to it would bump it up to the top of the list. Whereas if I know the date and approximate time, I can know where to start. Any way to change that, or make it an option to see it the old way? Other than that, I like the new layout. Nice colors.

Don't get me wrong, PGP. I fully intend to stay on CF for years and it would take more than a bad redesign to get me to leave. This isn't a mass "hey, i'm going to leave CF" petion.
It's simply a way of telling Lee that the opinions and views of normal CF members are being ignored here. That's all. Too often changes happen and people just roll over ans say 'well, that's the way it is.' This is simply a chance for ordinary CF members to let Lee know that maybe his way isn't always the best way.
Personally i'm a little tired of changes being made to this site just to make him a bit of money ($50 for 1000 blessings???????!!!!!). Let's tell him that maybe he doesn't know everything about messageboards.

The setting for Absolute or Relative times is set for the whole board. By default, you can have either. It's an easy hack, though, to put in both ("Posted 37 minutes ago at 7:32 am on January 9, 2008" or whatever). nexialys should be able to do it without breaking a sweat. The only problem is that it can sometimes mess up the table widths.

I agree- I think it's brilliant.
Just some stuff they hafta fix asap - Site Supporters should have priority in being given site status asap -
repping needs to be fixed (altho the SS would clear most of that problem up) -
I'm not sure on the bank issues yet - but if we make 10 blessings per post, then it's possible that the penalties they're implementing might not be much of any drawback if we make enough per post.

I have no problem with some complaint - the reason is this, we were given high hopes of a shut down and when it's up, it's all ready to go.
I thought the site would be up to par like it was before.
I think if they gave us the 'worse case info', we wouldn't have higher expectations than what we're led to believe when coming back.
What DOES bother me is a petition's already started to formally demand it go back:swoon::sigh:... AFTER ALL THIS WORK THEY'VE DONE! And it's not even finished yet.
It's been less than 1 day & there's an "anti" petition out - that I think is overKill on complaining and kinda rude quite honestly. (apologies to whoever started it but......) =/
That one I feel bad about going on & wish it wasn't. I just want the SS reinstated & reps going., but it takes time getting used to stuff.

If it's $50 per 1,000 blessings when my renewal comes up for my subscription, I'm not going to be renewing just on principle. I don't think it can be considered fraud legally, as it's stated what you'll be getting for what you pay for.

Guys, I think this upgrade was a secular version, so they probably have to change it. GET OVER IT FOR NOW. Until things are settled down we have no idea what's staying and what's going, so can everyone stop bugging out about it and deal? It's an INTERNET site. -_-'
...sorry. :(

sometimes I think they should of just left it closed down for about 1 week or 5 days, whatever - fix most of the stuff that gets fixed later & save the anti change petitions from being started not even 1 day later.

What fun is an upgrade without a few kinks? Personally I'm giving it a couple weeks for all the problems to be worked out before I start complaining too much. True, the homey feeling of the old CF hasn't applied yet for the new version, but it takes time.
Look at it this way, in a few years when they have to upgrade again, how many of you who are complaining right now, will be asking for it to be changed back to this style? GIVE IT TIME! I understand the frustrations of trying to figure out the new system. I'm confused to. But I feel that those who are working on the upgrade, and trying to tweak out the bugs still need a little more credit than they are recieving.
I've read most of this thread, mainly to keep updated with how things are coming. I am a little surprised to see the same question being asked every 2-3 pages. Yes, there is a lot to read, but going back 10 pages and catching up isn't that hard. And you will probably find the answer to your question in those pages.
I just want to thank those involved with the upgrade for all their hardwork they have put in. Also, thank you for allowing us to come back on here and post, even though things are completely done yet.
Ok, I had posted this ealier in this thread and feel that it needs to be riterated. Esp. now that someone how started a petition to go back to the old version of CF. It hasn't even been back for 24 hours! If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to sign in and post. Wait a couple of weeks so bugs can get fixed, THEN try to come back.

*shrug* Meh, personally I'd prefer messed up table widths and have the actual times, but as a lurker I doubt it'll mean anything lol. It can mess up the tables if the longer time/date info is crammed into a table too small horizontally for it. Or, if it wraps and the table is too small vertically. Don't forget that not only the time/date info on the posts, themselves, will be affected, but also the timestamps on the threadlists for each forum (as well as the main board.)

I don't mind the new look. I just want to get my color and font back in my posts...just too lazy to hit the buttons to do it...:) I guess my only complaint is the signature stuff. Takes too much space and I don't care to see it all displayed out.
Great job for the folks involved with the forum...:)
I wondered about the color & fonts too - I'm sure there's a way to set it permanently like there was before, I just haven't found where.

Is there any way to request stuff. For example, it took me a long time to accumulate all my stuff. Literally 3 years. It would be much easier to get all my stuff back, if we could select the items and hit purchase one time. Kind of how we are adding all our friends back.

I wish!!! Right now, there's no way to do that. I can't promise the tech people will have time to work on the Living Avatar interface anytime soon.

Well that's the same thing as what happened before-only this is it made "ChrisBot" post in there announcing it. Not sure on whether it will just automatically happen or there'll be another message. THey might even re-make ChrisBot, 2.0 or something.

It just so happens that this is my week off in between sessions. I am glad that I have this week to figure things out.
