Quick question... so since it looks like our doll now goes in our avater space, where do we put our avatars? Do avatars have to be moved to the sig if we want to keep them, or is there going to be a place for BOTH the avatar AND the doll?

As of right now, you can have either an avatar or a character, not both. Whether that will change in future, I don't know. If you want to keep your avatar and have a character, I guess you could put your avatar in your sig if you want to.

To Create / Edit your character.

User CP -> Edit Avatar -> Living Avatar.

you must save it for it to show.
To adjust the size, use the Crop Tool, by pressing the Shift key to adjust the size of the viewing area.

Actually now that i got the hair and eyes to actuall line up I am afraid to try again. I may just use an avatar in the end. I can change the picture on a regular basis without fear of misplaced eyes.

There's an option to move things a pixel or two at a time after you get the item close to where you want it. Helps me a LOT because my eyesight ain't what it used to be.

You use 5 or so for quick moving, then 1 to fine adjust the placement.

If you want things to move a big distance when you click a direction button, put in a large number... if you want to finely adjust things, put in 1 :)

I think my character is "stuck" I tried to put a background in. Now I have an extra "body form" on top of the first one and I can't get it off. Remove item will not remove it. Neither will "layer up" or down. My doll appears normal in the post, but I can't change her in the editing room. Any suggestions?:confused:

I betting you've got a few small things that are over on top, you might need to just click & delete everything & restart.

I'll have to check with the tech guy. I noticed the same thing. The original plan was to automatically crop all the images, and it looks like that didn't happen. On the one hand, it makes it a little easier to put the body, eyes, etc together. On the other hand, we can't place stuff anywhere we like yet.

I think so, but it's pretty low on the priority list. A lot of people are putting their avatar images in their signatures for the time being.

I purchased them all at once so I wouldn't have to keep going back and forth ... when I change my character or even go there my computer freezes up when I try to leave ... Yes... the savings is back now. I just transfered blessings from checking to savings and it said Pending (it took the blessings from checking but hasn't added them to savings yet) so we'll see... And whatever blessings you had in savings before the upgrade should be there now :)

Yes. The preview images which you see in the purchase are are half the size of the actual image. For things like eyebrows and lips, it's almost impossible to distinguish them. I switch to 800x600 resolution when I'm reading those pages. It helps...a little.

I had that problem - i had tons and tons of armory items before the change - most likely somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 or so (guessing) anyway after repurchasing from this new armory about 3/4 of what i had before (several items arent showing available that i had before ) i found out the hard way all these items loading on the same page you create your character on instead of in categories like it was before and it took me a literal hour to make what i have now because each time i added an item i would have to wait 5- 10 minutes for the page to free up from its frozen state to add the next item and then when hitting save it locks up completely

thankfully though it saved it even though each save results in having to hard shut down the computer and start again.

Removing them and starting over again would be a nightmare for someone like me who has tons of items and had tons of items before because it took several hours to reget 3/4 of what i had before already. That makes it not fun at all and not looking forward to starting over again :(

I think the Captain Jack outfit is in Historical/Fantasy, but I'll check to be sure. Is it possible that your additional character items are showing up behind the background? It's hard to tell what layer we're positioned on. You could try raising the layer right after you drop the character body on and see if that helps.

ETA: It looks like Captain Jack didn't port over. I'm working on a batch to upload into Living Avatar and I'll add it to the list. I'll let you know when it's loaded and available.

I've seen screen shots of the armory shop the techies are thinking about - it's designed for RPG sites where people have tons of items for their RPG characters. I think it will work much better for us in the long run. There's room to grow, instead of nearly maxing out before we even get started.

I'm not looking forward to shopping again, either!

Have you looked for the Bible shield in the library? I included it in that folder when I put the categories together. It was put in shields because of the 3 special item limit. Now that there's no limit, we can organize the items more logically (though some are just gonna be cats and dogs, no matter what...).

I see several that were already on my list to re-add, and a couple I think are actually in the armory now. I'll double check all of them before I submit this folder for loading.

Yep. The images were all supposed to be cropped so they aren't the size of the old character space. That didn't happen (yet).

On adding additional characters, you cannot re-use the same body for a different character. I had to purchase three bodies, one for each of the three characters in my avatar. If you're trying to re-add or re-equip a character body (or any other character item) you've already used, it won't work. So stock up.

Not everything is available yet, but it's mostly the most expensive items that we won't make generally available for free during this month.

I know of one hairstyle that got lost, and it's going to be re-added. can you describe the hairstyle that's missing so I can be sure I locate it?

Exactly... so think VERY CAREFULLY about whether you really want an item before you get it, as those with tons and tons of items seem to be having lots of trouble getting the page to load and stuff.

It's not possible, yet. It will involve recoding the Living Avatar application, so the ability to give other people armor items probably won't happen in the next week or so.

We're scheduled to upgrade CF to the new version of vbulletin on Monday, May 5. This upgrade is going to include a redesign of the CF Characters as well. Here's a list of some things we'll gain:

1. NO LIMIT on equipped items. Equip as many as you like from any category you like.

2. Splitting some of the larger categories into smaller groupings. No more scrolling through 600 dresses to find the one you want.

3. You decide how to layer things. That's right - you can have a background AND wings behind your character now.

4. Equipping items will be a drag-and-drop process

5. MOAR STUFF - as well as all of our beloved CF Characters, we will gain access to some additional bodies and stuff to go with them.

Some things we're not sure about:

- To start with, there won't be limitations on guy stuff/girl stuff based on our gender icons. That may be added later, but since this is a new system written by someone else, we're not sure what will be possible yet.

- We are probably going to have to start over from scratch with our characters and their wardrobes. Most items will be FREE for the first month after the upgrade. I will be tracking the one-of-a-kind type items so that we know who should be able to re-purchase stuff like the Holy Grail and the Ten Commandments and other big-ticket armory items. I'll contact these people with more details when things are finalized.

I'm very busy working on the category splits right now, but I'll keep an eye on this thread and try to find out the answers to your questions if I don't know the answers already.

ETA: Just to clarify, we are going to MOVE the CF character and armory items to Live Avatars. The CF characters are cool, awesome, and better than just about any other dolly type stuff in my humble opinion. They will be around after the upgrade in all their radiant beauty, just like today.

Also, be aware that there will be some massive reorganization as part of this conversion. We're splitting up the large categories and reshuffling some of the smaller ones to give us some room to grow. You may have to check a few categories to find the item you are looking for after the upgrade. Please be patient, and ask questions if you can't find what you're looking after May 5.

Thanks for your patience as we work out the kinks. I know for a fact that ravenscape has been burning the midnight oil trying to get things up and running.

All items will eventually be zero blessings so you can restock them, with the exception of the high ticket items. Please contact either ProfessorMom or ravenscape as I believe they are the ones with "the list" on who had those items. You WILL get them back.

The original backgrounds will have to be redone. They do not fill the new space format. Go ahead and grab what you need, and when they are redone, your files will be updated automatically. PLEASE GIVE US SEVERAL WEEKS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS! Thanks.

Many items have been moved to where it makes a little more sense and are (hopefully) easier for you to find. Raven knows where everything is, and I'm sure I'll figure it out quickly. If you are having trouble finding something and have looked in all the obvious places, let me know and I'll see if I can track it down for you.

To create your character, go to the User CP and click on "Edit Avatar." From there, click on the "Edit or change your Living Avatar" link, right under the big "Living Avatar" logo. There you can purchace items (click on the link) and purchase either CF Character stuff or other, new and fun things.

You may have either a Living Avatar ("Dollie/CFC") or a regular avatar, but not both. You are no longer limited in the number of items you can equip. That's right, go crazy!

You've done a great job with the categories and sorting things out, much easier to find things now. And I love the feature that lets you know you've purchased an item already :)

I am already impressed with this new living avatar system. Did you know you can use the background without even putting a dolly on it? I am very pleased with this option. When they come out with an animal I like then I can put him in the picture.

I love my character and worried a bit about the switch to Living Avatars.
I'm still getting used to things, but I'm really pleased to still have favorite outfits and hairstyles and things.


My favorite white capri pants didn't make it to the new armory.
Should I put a request for them in the armor request thread?
Or is there a different thread to ask for things that didn't make the switch?

I'll take a look and see which white capris are missing - I have copies of all the pre-CF2 items on my hard drive. It may be another couple weeks or so before I have the ability to add new items, though...
