I didn't see anything in the article that identified them as sda offshoots. Did I miss something?

Yes, I just read the entire article, and unless it was edited, there's nothing about SDAs.

There is no mention of the SDA church or any connection to it. Please document your title claiming this to be a SDA offshoot or this thread will be closed for staff review.

No, it doesn't say anything about this being an offshoot but they are! Wayne Bent used to be an SDA and he took many SDA's with him who live with him on this compound. It doesn't need to say SDA in the news article for me to know.

Hasn't anyone heard of the LOR group? Let me see what I can find:

How about this for starters:

The SDA church is mentioned often on the LOR (Strong City's) website.

http://strongcity.info/LOR/sc/page/about_strong_city/

He was an SDA pastor before starting LOR. From what I've read they still use EGW for their own purposes.

He was a former SDA. I don't think it counts as an off shoot. Their interpretation of the 70 week prophecy ended 2007.

Thankyou Rosie55 for this response. For some of us who haven't been adventist most of our lives it's kind of hard to know these things. I didn't know the Jehovah witnesses started at about the same time as sda's either. Some of their founders were adventists originally.

Did anyone here watch the documentary that was just on t.v. about this group. Wayne Brent Identifies himself as an Adventist and speaks often of the great controversy of God's Sabbath and man's sabbath, also claims to correctly follow the teachings of Ellen White. I'm not saying anything bad about the group and don't know much about them other then they have caught the attention of the authorities. It appears they seem to be a happy lot.

The man claims to be the messiah, God on earth. What does he have to do with SDAs besides that he was a former SDA?

There is a video on the website at the home page that is just short of 2 hours. The leader describes how he has been able to lead a sinless life and in that way he has become incarnated by God dwelling in him and in that way he has also lived perfectly within the law of God to show a literal example that any human can live perfectly within the law of God. I'm not saying anything bad about it and the man has a real passion for the seventh day sabbath and the teachings of Ellen White. I watched the video and read some of the website. It's possible that the man is not being given a fair shake yet that does not shake his faith. He will honor the Sabbath and give of himself to the seven wives even at the cost of his own life. Right or wrong the man has a serious faith.

Pythons, if you had the patience to wade through 2 hours of video about this person and group you are to be commended for having so much patience. That being said however, and regardless of the amount of faith you think this person may have, nor how much he expounds the teachings of the Bible and/or E. G. White, there is still one glaring error. He claims to be of divine origins, and claims to be without sin. This according to Scripture is blasphemy. The claims made also fly in the face of Jesus Christ's own words concerning these end times and that there would be false christ and false prophets.

One of the two, Jesus Christ or Wayne Brent, is a lier. Which do you chose to believe?

Of the now five situations where the US government "stormed" a "compound" that I have heard of two were "former" SDAs. This isn't a good trend.

The reasons for storming have changed too, and all of them were disturbing.

An anonymous phone call and supposed illegal weapons.

If I understood what the LOR says about itself and specifically about Michael is that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit keeps the repentant sinner from sinning and enables the person to live a life free of sin. The LOR urges all Christians to accept the message that a person "can live in perfect obedience to God's Commandments". They believe the Papacy will enforce a Sunday Law.

They talk much about a person named "E.A. Sutherland" and "The Midnight Cry". They appear to believe the General Conference has become Babylon and that the SDA's who accept the Trinity have drank their fill of the wine of Babylon.

It is very intersting to read about how other people feel about religious matters. Michael is filmed saying that he obeys the laws of God over man so if man comes in and kills him he is prepared to met that end. Michael calls all people to examine the teachings he has put together and calls his fellow "Adventists" to come out of Babylon.

Did you by chance { sorry, forgot to add the link} happen to see the interview Bill O. on Fox news did with a woman who left the compound?

In the sear window type "Doomsday cult" then click it.

If you are not a member of this congregation, you can only post in the main forum fellowship or ask questions. Your post appears to be neither.

It's almost as if we are guilty by association what these former SDA wackos do.

There is no need to be offended by stories like this, Act 20:29 (http://cf.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Act&c=20&v=29&t=KJV#29)For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Mat 13:5 (http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/popup.pl?book=Mat&chapter=13&verse=5&version=kjv#5)Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

Mat 13:6 (http://www.blueletterbible.org/cgi-bin/popup.pl?book=Mat&chapter=13&verse=6&version=kjv#6)And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

I think everyone is being too hard on Rosie. She was very upset by what happened to the children in the FLDS compound and this is just another example of that type of government raid.

I don't agree with LDS teachings, but these are children being stripped from their mothers and FEW people are helping them.

I don't care who it is, due process is a RIGHT in this country and our government cannot take it away on a whim, period.

I wasn't calling you a former SDA wacko (I had no idea if you have ever been a SDA or not), but this guy who calls himself the Messiah and David Koresh who some people like to associate us with.

Excuse me? I must now have some kind of "icon" ? Sorry, I know nothing about having any SDA icon. Don't know where it is or anything about it. An icon is another name for an idol right?

Since I'm an SDA, it does seem reasonable that I do believe in the teachings of the Bible and this church. Especially since my relatives helped start this church. I'm a 7th generation SDA. Does that help OntheDL?

But oh well, so-long!

It was a reasonable question. I don't think you have been that long to know we just had a split. Before the split many professed SDA members did not believe in the Adventist message and Ellen White was a false prophet. That's why I asked.

Michael AKA Mr. Bent was arrested by the Authorities so he will not be participating in any more consummation events at Strong City. His followers have issued words to the little flock or something to that effect and warn that the arrest of Michael was predicted by "Sister White". There will be more news to follow and if anyone is interested National Geographic will host a special tomorrow night on the teachings of Michael and the Church. The preview I just watched showed the church holding a prayer meeting vesper.

Glad the board is back up. It looks good so thanks Mods and CF.

I did post a message on the strongcity website to Wayne and he did respond. But with him being in jail it may be a while before he's back online. If he was laying naked in his bed with underage girls I hope it's a REALLY long time before he's back.

The boards do look good. It will take a little while to figure out how to do everything we did before.

Wayne Bent AKA Michael will cease to be a husband subsequent to sentencing by a member of the Judicial community, he will change in an instant and transform into a wife. This is the politically correct way of saying Michael has broken the law and will pay for it.

Did anyone see the Larry King Live Interview? They talked to Bent's Son and Lisa Ling.

From the last post:I think it's safe to say he will become the virgin after he's sentenced by da-Judge. There will certainly be a marriage ceremony, but in his case it will be mutton, not lamb. This statement is profane and is most offensive. Where is the report button?

Hi Doc,

I edited it down for the sake of fellowship. Wayne Bent, AKA Michael Travesser has been arrested for having what he describes as "Consummation Events" with members of his flock. The website for the LORite Church has been very active the last few days and Jeff (the Son of Wayne Bent) said on Larry King Live that "Father" would spring Michael the messiah out of the clink.

My prediction is that Michael did break the law and will become incarcerated where he will get some of what he's been dishing out to the wives and children within the Strong City compound. I of course may be wrong about Wayne Bent so we will all have to wait and see what the Judge does.

Did you get a chance to view the National Geographic show on this group or perhaps see the interview on Fox News with Bill O. and the interview with Larry King Live and Lisa Ling? If you missed it I could pm you a link to the "unedited" Nat Geo Vid.

An interview with Bill O.? Now there bes something it would like to see. It bes not a fan of Bill O. but honestly would like to see him pit his scathe against Bent (who seems to be living up to his legal surname quite fully).

For the record, Moriah does NOT do the "guilt by association" thing. These offshoots and cults bes not the fault of the mainstream SDA church. They do not uphold such teachings as these groups devise. The SDA church bes riddled with rogue prophet wannabes peddling charts and calling the church Babylon and all sorts, you see those types at campmeeting sometimes trying to draw off (prey upon) discouraged or discontented SDAs. If they gain a following they probably go on from there to develop a little cult.

Tried to send ya a pm and got the message you have your account set up to not recieve them?

1.) Go to the Google search page, on the top select "video"

2.) Type in "Strong City" and hit enter.

3.) The video should be at the top of the list, it's 48 minutes long. There is a ton of videos the Lorites have produced so make sure it's not them. The guy who did the documentary has a British accent.

4.) You can do the same thing with the other videos, just go to the google home page and on the upper left select videos (it's under the 'more') section and type in Larry King Inverview with Cult, etc.

I think I remember reading somewhere that we can't post links any longer and that's why I didn't do it.

He bailed out of jail a few days ago and is waiting for court. Not sure if you watch Fox News but another cult (described as being even darker then the Texas and NM one) is being looked into. It's called the "House of Yahweh". Sounds similar to the NM one from reading their website. They claim the Pope tramples on the true Sabbath and that the SDA Church descended into Apostasy when it accepted the Trinity. The leader claims he is Messiah and has bred seven virgins.
