It says John baptised with water for the remission of sins but Jesus baptised with the Holy Spirit and with Fire.
What does this fire part mean?
Thanks in advance for your helpful (as always) replies.

The context of the passages (Matt. 3:11; Luke 3:16) that include baptism by fire point to judgment.

John baptized "unto repentence" - not for the remission of sins.
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:
As for what is meant about "fire", see Luke:
Luk 3:16 John answered, saying unto [them] all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Luk 3:17 Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
I take this to mean that those who beleive and recive Him are baptized with the Holy Spirit, and those that reject Him are baptized with fire....as in the lake of fire after judgment.

I believe it was one and the same baptism...
Act 2:2-4 KJV
(2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
(3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
(4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
...which is tied to the "signs following" and "power".
Luk 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
In short, i believe there were two baptisms which the Holy Spirit was a part of....
1. The baptism WITH the Holy Spirit and with Fire (baptism of power)
.........connected with the "signs" of the kingdom ministry.
2. The baptism BY the Holy Spirit
........places you IN and identifies you with the body of Christ.
John baptized "unto repentence" - not for the remission of sins.
Mar 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Isa 40:2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
Isa 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
.....I believe it was a baptism for forgiveness of sins.
