I was wondering if there are any biblical answers to this question.

There's reference to God knowing us as he formed us in the womb. I'd say that we DO NOT exist before he creates us.

Genesis 1.26+/- indicates God created Adam the spirit first , then he created adam the man [ gen 2.25+/-] second .... perhaps God makes the spirit at conception and combines it with the flesh ... not sure

Huh?
Those two chapters teach nothing of the sort. Where did you come up with that premise?

We weren't anything before we are born. We did not exist yet.

I don't believe we were anything, or anywhere.. I haven't found any biblical evidence in that area, of us being around before we were born... Though I know it's in the Bible, I just have to find it...

Hi there!
Your biblical answer:
God knew Jeremiah before he was created in a physical form in the womb, and God sanctified him before he was born into this world.
Jer 1:5 (http://bible1.crosswalk.com/OnlineStudyBible/bible.cgi?word=jer+1:5&version=kjv&st=1&sd=1&new=1&showtools=1)Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
And the breath of life, or the spirit, is given from God at birth, and returns to God at death.
Ge 2:7 (http://bible1.crosswalk.com/OnlineStudyBible/bible.cgi?word=ge+2:7&version=kjv&st=1&sd=1&new=1&showtools=1) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Job 33:4 (http://bible1.crosswalk.com/OnlineStudyBible/bible.cgi?word=job+33:4&version=kjv&st=1&sd=1&new=1&showtools=1) The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Ec 3:21 (http://bible1.crosswalk.com/OnlineStudyBible/bible.cgi?word=ec+3:21&version=kjv&st=1&sd=1&new=1&showtools=1) ... Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, (at death)
In a very liberal translation....
Psalm 139:13 You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother.

It's not that you were in "existence" before you were born or before you were created in the womb, but that God knew you as a part of His plan.
BTW, the "inner being" is the soul.

Here's my understanding. From Ge 2:7, i see the equation
spirit(breath of life)+dust=living soul
With what Malaka posted about Jer 1:5, I believe God has a plan for everyone even before we were born. Not that we were some spirit and God KNEW us. Rather, we were nothing but God knew it in His mind all about us and how He wants us to be. It is only then does birth has the potential to fulfill that plan of His.
