For ligistical reasons, it was going to be nearly impossible for me to get to my normal EO church for Pascha, so I was very worried and concerned.

Then just now as I was in a parking lot at the gym, I saw a car with a Coptic bumper sticker and a lady sitting in the car. So I pulled up and went over and talked to her and have found out that the Coptic Church (which is much closer than my church) will be having Liturgy at a time when I can make it. She was so kind and I am so excited that I found somewhere to go. I feel like it must be God giving me this way to go to Pascha because what are the odds of that happening??

:clap::crosseo:

Is there anything I should know to expect? If you have ever bee to the Pascha liturgy at an EO church - is it different?

Thanks!

From what I understand it starts at 7:30 on Saturday and goes until after midnight - does that sound right?

Also I am planning to go Friday morning before I have to go to work. What do you do on Friday?

But what do you do during the service on Friday? I'm going to go for the time before I have to go to work.

In the evening they are having a service where they read the entire book of Revelations which also sounds like it would be very powerful.

I find it really exciting to see the ways that Orthodox throughout the world celebrate Holy Week. Each of us has somewhat different traditions, but all so filled with devotion. This year I don't think I will be able to attend the Apocalypse service, but I told my boyfriend that sometime we must attend that.

I attended the local Coptic Pascha celebration last year. The Abouna was a man that was truly loving and hospitable. He is one of those few that you can actually feel His love for his neighbors around him. I felt honored and humbled simply to be in his presence. (later he made a joke about me not taking my shoes off LOL)

I'll remember to pray for you.

Tom

So I went today and it was beautiful! Although I went because of circumstance (I had to work the whole afternoon and evening so I couldn't get to my church which only has services at specific times not all day), I may consider making this a yearly Holy Friday tradition. Going again tomorrow and I can't wait!
