Here's a neat daily meditation I found for counting the omer. If you remember, day 1 was 4/19 night and 4/20 day--4/20 night and 4/21 day (today) is day 2~

Enjoy!

Counting the Omer Daily Meditation (http://www.aish.com/omerThemes/omerThemesDefault/Daily_Omer_Meditation_.asp)

Day 2 -- Gevurah of Chesed: Discipline in Loving-kindness
Exercise for the day: Help someone on their terms not on yours. Apply yourself to their specific needs even if it takes effort.

P.S. In our family we have a little calendar that we count on with a big red marker. :D

Oh :P You are right! I'm sorry I woke up at 6am and my mind is muddly.

It's Day Two after sunset tonight! *sigh* UGH. Jewish calendar math while sleepy!

Here's another good one for counting: Chabad Omer Day Two (http://www.chabad.org/holidays/sefirah/omer-count.asp?date=4/21/2008) ... for tonight AFTER SUNSET .

Oh good! I thought I was behind! After the seder lasted so long last night I forgot to begin the count, but still had time after getting up this morning. :)

Thanks for sharing. These are very nice meditations.
I think I will incorporate them in my counting the Omer.

Shalom FaithfulWife,

I find that all meditations that do not include the Creator, Yahshua HaMeshiach, are not helpful to me, though I do thank you for the effort.

I read the article you linked to and found a few things that you might want to consider. For instance, their (aish.com's) claim that that the Omer, "which begins on the second night of Pesach" is in err. Scripture tells us that it occurs on the day after the Sabbath during the Passover week (Leviticus 23). And we know that Yahshuah fulfilled every prophecy written of Him including the prophetic symbolism of His Moedim. This includes HaBikkurim. In Brit Chadashah He is call the 'Firstfruits of those that slept' indicating His fulfillment of the first portion of the promised resurrection of all flesh. You see, scripture records that He was resurrected on the day after the weekly Sabbath and not the day after the yearly Sabbath as the rabbi's teach.

Of course the rabbis also teach a different calendar than scripture too. Those that observe the aviv in the manner prescribed by Elohim did not celebrate the Pesach on the same day as those that calculate the day with man's calendar, be it Julian or Jewish. I encourage you to investigate these matters for yourself. Everyone has an agenda. I just trust Yahshua's more than theirs - or mine for that matter. His agenda is to save.

Listen to them, Learn from them, but do not become them. That is what He taught. Beware the leaven...

actually he told us to do more than listen to them,
He told us to obey them
"Do as they say but not as they do for they say and do not"

This year it did not matter in my counting but everyone wants to do it their own way. Yeshua did not teach arguments about the way the society of his day was counting and accounting for the holidays.

The apostles taught us not to judge one another based on which days we celebrate.

So either way, be led by the spirit.

Going from darkness to light is the agenda. The study and the practice of lawful behavior is light.

Hey Bananna,

Of course the scripture you refer to is one of the most hotly contested interpretations I know of in the Messianic community. And I don't wish to dispute with you over these things. But my understanding differs markedly from yours.

First I cannot think of a single time when the Master endorsed transgressing His Torah. And since I know that He rebuked the rabbinim for a number of transgressions, I have a hard time accepting that He meant blind obedience by that statement. Rather, obey them when they read the Torah, seated in the seat of Moshe in the synagogue.

Saul taught his converts not to let the 'circumcised' judge the uncircumcised in these matters of Sabbaths and Moedim, then went on to stress the prophetic importance of keeping them properly - according to Torah.

And right you are. Be led by the Spirit. But test the Spirit according to the Word.

This is my understanding of these matters. But even with these differences I have noted here, we probably aren't that far apart in the final analysis. I have little doubt that you love Adonai as much as anyone. And that is the most important doctrine of all.

In His Love,
Phillip

This is true, also I think Sha'ul backs this up when he says:

ROMANS 3:1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? 2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God. 3 For ( or so what?) what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, and may overcome when You are judged."

I don't know of anywhere else it says that they passed from the keeping of the Jews. Anyone??

This doesn't mean until the first time, but until he sits on the throne of David

GENESIS 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh shall come; and to him shall be the obedience of the people.
