When God blessed the seventh day and made it holy?

Do you think they thought they needed to rest on that day?

God rested from His work on that day why would they not emulate their Father?

God rested from His work on that day why would they not emulate their Father?

But God's rest was not a rest as in needing rest from labor, but rather, it was ceasing from labor because He was finished. Why would Adam and Eve need to emulate that?

Adam and Eve would not have needed to rest really. They had no work to do anyway. They would have just had special communion with God but im sure they did that everyday.

It seems to me that God blessed and sanctified the seventh day, in other words, when sanctified it He set it apart from the other six days. Working six days and not working on the seventh day is the way we separate it from the other six days. Adam was a gardener by trade so he probably ceased from his work after seeing God blessing and sanctifying the seventh day.

I bet they felt very privileged that God had a special day and wanted them to be a part of it. That's how I feel every Sabbath.

Sabbath was made for man....in other words, man came first. :)

The very next day after Adam and Eve were cerated God "rested." It seems obvious to me that Adam and Eve "rested" also. In that beautiful setting of the Garden of Eden, God, Adam, and Eve had a quiet time to comune with each other just like we should be available to comune with our Creator today on the Sabbath. The three of them must have watched the sunset as the Sabbath begin and enjoyed the quite soilitude together.

I think that first Sabbath must have been a time of getting to know their Creator for Adam and Eve. You must remember that even if God was their Creator, Adam and Eve had had little time to become aquainted with their Creator the day before.

On that first Sabbath they must walked in God's great outdoors and looked in awe at His handiwork. I'm also sure that God explained to them why He had created the Sabbath and it's purpose.

As Adam and Eve watched that second sunset marking the close of that first Sabbath they must have started eargerly looking forward to the next Sabbath with their Creator. The Sabbath was intended to be a never ending cycle of comunion, worship and praise with the Creator of the universe. Just think how exciting it will be for each of us when we experience our first Sabbath with our Creator!
